The Black guy could have saved the day...but he runs away - LOL
Saying to himself 'you know how this ends. Na-ah i'm outta here'
I wouldn't be happy if I were a Black guy and saw that.

It is a pretty strange choice for the resolution of the character. I was scratching my head about it too.
shareI was expecting him to die trying to save the women, but then he just leaves. It was funny how it played out because you don't usually see that in horror movies.
shareJust when you thought that nice bartender was coming to their rescue.
“Naw, f**k this shit…come on, man. We’ve seen this movie. We don’t make it out this bitch alive. You know this?!?!”
And takes off. Brilliant. We need more of that randomness. Haha.
They had the black ex boyfriend hightail it out of there because if he stayed and helped save the day like it would have used to have been, then him and the black lesbian (bi really) would've had to have ended up back together again and you just can't have that in this landscape. Oh the fake online outrage that would've ensued had she dumped her female lover to get back together with a... GASP... male.
shareIt was comic relief about the long running joke that black people generally think white characters in horror movies are stupid for sticking around when they should have gotten the hell out.

Cracks me up every time
There isn’t a single likeable male character in the film. They’re all creeps, weirdos, cowards, serial killers, perverts, or the henchmen of perverts.
shareJust watched it the other night and thought what the hell. He just up and leaves. Guessing they had to fill in some time with his character.
shareIt was the perfect subversion of expectations - the audience is counting on this thread of connection from Noa to Mollie to Paul to save her from her predicament . . only to have it evaporate and leave us with Steve's victims to free themselves. Very much against the usual tropes, and also probably smart on the part of the character.
shareI immediately thought that this was a reference to The Shining, when Dick Hallorann (also a black man) arrives at the house only to be immediately killed by the madman serial killer
