Every era has trends that they was famous for and then trends that they're respected for but not as highly recognized.
The 80's are known for hair metal and synthesizer rock/pop. Neither of those piqued my interest. However, it also gave birth to thrash metal and progressive metal (Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer, Fates Warning, Queensryche and Dream Theater). All of those bands still run regular rotation in my collection.
The 90's are known for grunge and rap metal. Although, I do like certain bands like Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Rage Against the Machine, the scenes themselves got too nauseating too fast. However, it also had bands like Fear Factory, Machine Head, Sepultura and of course Pantera.
Anyone else wanna negotiate?
