Racist Whites Actually Think James Marsden Was The Funniest

With outstanding performances by Danny Glover and Columbus Short, Marsden doesn't even compare.

I liked seeing Jimmy in the movie because he grew up down the street from me and i had a James Marsden Movie Marathon. How you could possibly get racist from that... why are so many people getting their knickers in a twist here? There have been accusations of homophobia, racism... you all are the ones who scare me. Chill. :)

reply

Well, then I must be a racist Black or something because I thought he was hilarious and I enjoyed viewing his sculpted abs! :)

reply

ummm...maybe you should get over yourself. Maybe they really thought he was funny and it's not because whites are racist. Idiot. There aren't as many racist people as you think in the world anymore. I loved the movie and i'm white, but race has nothing to do with it. Obviously, you must be racist, though, because you seem to see things in terms of skin color.

I agree. I am white and I can recognize the fact racist whites are posting messages claiming the white actor (James Marsden) is the funniest actor when clearly he is nothing more than a James Carey wannabe. His character bored me.
Danny Glover is the funniest actor, no question, and I honestly like this remake better than the original.

I'm not racist or White, but I do think Mardsen was the one of the funniest in the film.
Glover was hilarious, and so was Martin Lawrence ("....bread").

I didn't find Columbus Short funny at all.

WTF does thinking Marsden was funny (or the funniest) have to do with racism? Perhaps, it's people that have done drugs in general, and Extacy in particular, that relate best to what he's going through?

Hell, while we're on the subject of relating to characters, perhaps they identify with him best because he's most "like" them. That's got absolutely nothing to do with racism.

You're as much of a dumbass as some other people who bring racism into any discussion surrounding this movie.

You know what could be really racist? Producers thinking that this movie HAD to be remade into what it was because that's maybe too unrelatable for the average black person to enjoy because of a white British cast.

Clearly the OP is a troll and too many people are falling for it.

1)Why would "white racists" watch a movie with a mostly all black cast?

2)Marsden is the "buffoon" in the film, so there are people who would get offended with that. Because he comes off much less intelligent than the black characters.

I haven't seen the original so I can't compare the two, but in most cases the British version is usually better.

The humor in this is low brow for sure, but some of us can watch a Merchant/Ivory film and also enjoy Cheech and Chong.

@DS01976

Excuse me? I'm black American and I really liked the original film (I like British movies anyway) which is why I checked out the remake, which I also liked because it had a lot of actors I liked in it, which made it even funnier. And some idiots have said ON this board that they thought the white guy (Marsden, who's not only cute, but a pretty good actor) was funnier than any black person in the film. And British film and TV shows get remade in to American & TV shows ALL the time, and FOR a white audience most of the time. So your contention that remaking into a black American version is racist is just plain flat-out stupid. You sure as hell wouldn't be saying that if it was remake with an all-white cast---then it would be just fine with y'all.

Like I said, I knew I'd find people (especially white people) having problems with the film simply because it has an all-black cast. People who complain about that need to ask themselves why the hell they have such a problem with that----why they can watch 99% of every film made in Hollywood that's about white folks, but let ONE little film come out that's dominated by black people and y'all want to throw a damn fit and holler, "Damn,it ain't got no white people in it! That's racism! AAAAAAARGH!" Seriously, what the hell is so damn hard about watching a film with mainly black people in it? Hello, last time I looked,we are Americans just like y'all are. We actually DO have some things in common, but white folks have been so damn brainwashed into believe that they can't possibly relate to anybody that isn't white onscreen, which is pretty damn sad to begin with. Watch some Asian/African/Latin American films and get over that myopic/narrow-minded way of watching movies y'all have.
