Man episode 6 hits you in the gut (Spoilers)

Mainly because we spend the first chunk of the episode with the victim, getting to know him, seeing him born, growing up, dealing with his disability, hanging out with his friends his family, showing us his aspirations and dreams.

Its a good while before we even see Dahmer, but by the time you do you're pretty invested in Tony and care about him, which makes him meeting Dahmer that much more tense and depressing to watch.

They show Dahmer actually liking him though at first, not drugging him, and legit trying to have a relationship with him, you almost have hope Dahmer doesn't kill him. But when it just cuts away and we see Tony's mom saying he's missing its like a sledgehammer to the gut. Then seeing Tony laying dead on his mattress like the others just hits you really hard. Then we see Dahmer eating one of his organs, just such a dark depressing gut punching ending.

Really great episode, giving us so much time with Tony at the beginning was a brilliant decision to just further make us feel just how fucking evil Dahmer was and the lives and dreams these guys had before meeting Dahmer and he just snuffed them out.

I didn't care much for the deaf man writing his notes everywhere. I couldn't read his writing, the notes weren't on screen for long enough and some of the subtitles didn't show. And to a blind viewer, they'd wonder what the hell was going on: minutes go by with no talking, just a noise.

reply

Yeah they should have added subtitles for that part! Thankfully there is aid for the visually impaired. It describes every detail of the scene.

Tony came across as an artificial goody-two-shoes. In reality, there is no proof any of the Dahmer/Tony relationship stuff ever happened. All we know is that Tony told his family he was now working for a man named Jeff.

Shows/movies like this have to fabricate some stuff occasionally for dramatic effect and for the story, no one but Dahmer and his victims knew exactly what went on between them, they have to make up some stuff. Not everything is gonna be exactly what happened.

Where's your spoiler alert, I've seen it but dont fuck it up for everyone else.

reply

Seriously? if you've not seen the show why go into a thread clearly discussing one of the episodes in the middle of the show? i can put a spoiler warning up but it should go without saying.

reply

Good point sorry bud.
