Now, that just grossed me out, and just seems disrespectful to the audience ... and probably any human being, especially women.
I have to wonder how the poor girl who played Borat's daughter felt about some of these scenes. One has to wonder if this movie was a career killer for her.
You mean carreer maker.
She was awesome in this, the best part of the movie.
Borat was handicapped by being famous and oldish. She was an awesome new replacement.
The dance was funny as hell. Nothing wrong with menstruation anyway. Nor there was nothing too graphic, just some red panties.
Also, the way it was shown, it's clear those uptight people were reacting to who knows what.
Not that dance, or they would have shown a wide shot including them.
Instead you always see them dancing separately. Obviously some trick editing.
It may make technical sense, but it doesn't say anything, and it ought to have a question mark. It is a convoluted meaning. If the guy,( and why did you butt in here? ), has something to say, as if he knows what is wrong with the thinking of the other person or side ... but he tacitly admits he doesn't.

completely agree, I have no idea what the OP is talking about and honestly I can only assume he is trolling...
I've read countless reviews and The Overwhelming Consensus is the girl and The actor playing her is being universally Praised...
I find It very ODD one could have such a drastically different opinion as The OP does
I Mean, I could understand If the OP just "didnt Like her" or just thought "she wasnt funny" as everyone else seems to think...But saying "One has to wonder if this movie was a career killer for her."
to me clearly seems like trolling, I think The OP clearly has read the consensus, realizes she is getting universal praise as the best part of the movie and is intentionally Trolling....at least I hope
PS...I did Cringe trying the Moon dance sequence...
I thought it was hilarious but It was truly hard to watch, at that moment I was in shock that SBC went there.
I just.....
A. dont think anyone else would think do do something like that
B. If someone did, I dont think anyone else but SBC could ever get something like that past the "what If" stage
and C. I dont think anyone else would have THE GUTS to actually do it
It was a stunning scene, Hilarious, Cringe Worthy, Really hard to watch, Disgusting, and possibly borderline Genius
There was lots of editing going on. How many cameras were in that room by the amount of coverage they got. I counted 20 by the coverage if we were to believe it was all real time during the dance yet there would probably be 1 to 3 tops and they edited lots of shots together.
Yes, 1 to 3 tops.
Again, I wonder what they were really reactig to.
Maybe a lighter versionof that dance, but in that case they would have matched some wide shots.
Maybe it was just Borat saying something outrageous.
I agree! She was fantastic and I am so glad she was a part of this movie! I hope she does get an Oscar for her performance!
Here is an interesting bit I came across about the dance scene:
"The movie's production team booked the event, and each father-daughter pair was reportedly paid $100 to participate under the impression that they were extras in a movie about a formal Southern dance."
There is another article that says they did not know it would be a fertility dance with a girl actually menstruating though so who knows if those are real reactions.
Thanks for the info, I wish it said more about what happened during te event.
I will never believe that the dance we see was actually performed with those mild reactions and there was no wide shot of it. I guess they had a tamer fertility dance.
Anytime :) There are quite a few articles about it. That one I linked was just one of many. But I do agree that it would have been even more hilarious to see more of the dance, lol! Gross, but funny.
Quite the opposite. There’s already Oscar buzz going around for Maria Bakalova. Her performance was surprisingly touching, endearing, hilarious, fearless, etc. She was easily the funniest part of a very funny movie. If anything, this movie is going to launch her career in a way that few other films could have.
I suppose only time will tell. But judging by the reviews she’s getting for Borat, I think it’s extremely safe to say that we’ll be seeing more of her over the next few years.
When I watched this scene, it seems the audience is reacting to shots of something else. Their whole dance only ever has only those two in the frame. It was edited to appear to disgust the audience, where, in actuality, there were none. I guess that gives some comfort :)
I like a lot of the stupid things SBC does, but that was not funny to me and it was gross. I don't mind gross if it's funny or has a point ... that was just gross. Guess he cannot win them all, but it put me off the show and I still have not got back to it and probably won't.
