Preferred Vanya to Viktor

Vanya was a frayed troubled relatable character. Where as Viktor just comes off as broody and whiny in a really annoying way.

reply

"Elliot" Page ruined the show with her trans bullshit. They should have replaced her.

reply

Totally agree.

I suggested that in a couple of FB groups when it was announced a few years ago and slobbering psychotic libs went ballistic saying it would be traumatic to Page if producers insisted she “play” a woman. 🙄

reply

I'm surprised you didn't get banned from FB for hate speech. It's crazy how much censorship we have when it comes to criticizing this trans nonsense.

But yeah, this series could have been great. The diversity made sense so it was tolerable, and yet they still managed to mess it up thanks to Ellen Page's narcissistic bullshit.

reply

I haven't watched this show since "the transition." Regardless of what Ellen did to herself in her personal life, she should have been professional enough to continue playing Vanya as female onscreen, to preserve the character's integrity.

I have no interest in ever watching "Viktor."

reply

When Glee actor died from overdose people said that Finn the character wasn't drug addict and didn't have to die the same way actor did. So they just didn't say why Finn died.

Vanya wasn't trans and didn't had to become man just because actress wanted. Yet they did it. I assume actress refused to put on a wig and play Vanya as woman. So they had to make her man. Should have just bring Victor from another timeline like they did with Ben. And kill/lost Vanya

reply

Viktor from another timeline wouldn't have helped. She was just terrible as that character. It's like she was trying really hard to play a brooding angry boy but having been a woman didn't have the experience to emulate it properly. And it just came off as annoying and cringy.

reply

They DID have him put on a wig for the beginning of season three and it looked super weird.

reply

You mean her?

Stapling a horn to a horse doesn’t make it a unicorn.

reply

No I mean him. Your brain is who you are, your junk is only an accessory.

reply

Not trying to be offensive but your brain defines your character not your gender. Gender isn't psychological it's genetic. Operations and hormone therapy can alter her appearance but not her genetics. Ms Page can identify any way she chooses but genetically she will always be a woman.

reply

Exactly.

And forcing people to accept or refer to someone’s fake gender by law/regulations or by threatening to “cancel” them is more offensive and problematic than not accepting or referring to fake genders.

You don't understand biology.

reply

Apparently you don’t.

reply

Okay, you don't have to believe ME but the link I provided takes you to an actual evolutionary biologist who can explain gender and sex to you.

reply

And I could supply links they prove they’re wrong.

reply

From a biologist? I'd love to see that.

reply

Brains have everything to do with your sexuality.

Biologically speaking genetics and gender are waaaayy more complicated than that. You don't have to believe me, you can hear it straight from an evolutionary biologist.

reply

Sexuality and gender are not the same though. No matter how you view yourself of what you want to identify as you can't think yourself into a new genetic make up. Gender is purely 100 percent genetics. Males have an XY chromosome and females have an xx chromosome. No operation can change that.

reply

Do you want to learn about it or do you just want to be right? Because if you find it at all interesting you should watch the video. If you just want to be right the truth doesn't matter.

reply

His face changed to a more masculine face, in the 3rd season he started out with a wig and it just looked weird. He looked even more masculine this season, I'm glad they didn't force him to play a female.

Reading the behind the scenes info, it seems like they were pretty onboard with transitioning the character as it gave them the chance to be the first show that portrayed a trans character.

reply

Honestly I didn't notice any difference in Ellen's face. Victor just looks like Ellen with short hair.
