Oh Please, not that good
It just wasn't, the story was unbelievable and ordinary all at the same time.
Foreign films usually get away with this for some reason but if this was mad win english it would be laughed off the screen.

[Obviously I don't expect you to come back but:]
What aspect of the story was unbelievable?
"No Silicon Heaven? Preposterous! Where would all the calculators go?"
Parts of it were supposed to be unbelievable. Some were played out as romanticised chapters of the book he was writing (the train station scene), others were fantasised versions of memories (Sandoval's killing). Sorry, but it seems you may have missed some things there, bud.
And if you mean the ending.. Well, no more unbelievable than any other film I've ever seen. I could cite myriad "English" films with more unbelievable aspects that are critically lauded.
__Look on down from the bridge,
there's still fountains down there.
It just wasn't, the story was unbelievable and ordinary all at the same time.
Unbelievable?
Cos inmates leave prison?
Corrupt police and politicians?
Drunks working on the law system?
What was so unbelievable? Or you mean, the parts you cannot understand are "unbelievable" for you?
I don't think those parts were unbelievable, but I just naturally assume all people in power are corrupt. I think Americans probably think of most countries south of the border are run by drug lords or are in the process of undergoing a coup of some sort. At the very least we just assume corruption is
even more common than in our own system.
The parts that I had a hard time swallowing were (spoilers):
Finding a guy in a soccer crowd, especially given the only picture you had of him was old and blurry.
Keeping a violent criminal in a home made cell for 20 years by yourself.
To a lesser extent I didn't buy that Irene would give up her marriage at the end. To me she seemed like the kind of person who would keep a commitment regardless of her personal feelings.

I will buy the 'face in a crowd' thing if you say so. I just know I went to an NFL game last year and a major college football game (100,000 fans) and I doubt I could find anyone I know well, let alone someone I had never actually seen before. I think it was the unfamiliarity with the subject part that pushed it over the line for me.
I thought about the Fritzl case as well when I made that statement. I think these are some of the differences: 1) his daughter was abused from a young age and conditioned to live in those conditions and 2) she had kids whose safety she was worried about. Gomez was a full grown adult who was also a criminal - a person who had killed another person. Unless his captor tortured him I still find it hard to believe he wouldn't have found a way to escape.
Still a very good movie.
That is because Hollywood movies got you used to imppossible escapes... in reality this is far more belivable than many escapes, it is as simple as you put a guy in an empty cage, and you only give him food for 20 years. That is all. Simple. It has happened before and it will keep happening you simply will never know and keep thinking Alcatraz is a realistic movie.
shareI guess that would be true if all my information came from watching movies. Fortunately, it doesn't.
Why do you feel the were going to be a couple, maybe it was just a hook up or a conversation after a make out session on what next they would do. But I did not read them becoming a couple, at least at that point.
sharePretty sure I clarified what I meant in the proceeding sentence.

There are two kinds of people in the world, those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.
I tend to agree that this film was fairly ordinary and not as good as what a lot of other people have been saying about it. I wouldn't go as far as saying that it would have been terrible if it was in English. It seemed similar to a few English detective films that I've seen and, although a bit slow, aren't too bad. I really liked the eye work shown by various actors through the film, obviously intended due to the title. A very impressive aerial shot too coming into the stadium and landing in amongst the crowd. Good doorway shots too during the chase. I guess I should cut the film a bit of slack because of the intentional drifting quality; but the most I can give it is 7/10.
shareYes, I was let down by the rating, I was expecting something great, but I thought it was pretty average, and it definitely did not deserve the Academy Award.
shareIn my opinion it's not as good as The White Ribbon http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1149362/ which was a contender for the Oscar. I just saw that film and it's excellent.
I now have on my bucket list A Prophet http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1235166/ which was another contender.
what a fool, trolling as usual. I know we are all different, but average??? get a grip
shareAgree with you. I can't believe rating is 92% in RT!
What was director really trying to show?

I think you are retarded. Read the message board carefully. There are some negative reviews also.
Watch the Dark Knight, and then you will understand why is it on the Critic's top lists.

Don't just beep. Anyway, it is upto your taste buds. Some people don't like Titanic, Avatar, S.Millionaire, etc.
sharehahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahaahaha
share"I think you are retarded"?? How old are you, eight?
shareI think u r retarded...the film could have been shortened by 1 hour...
shareAlways at least one dicklock in a crowd.
shareIt was a pretty terrible movie. I didn't like the story or the actors.
I disagree with you about what you claim "foreign films usually get away with". Maybe you should make better choices.
It's a good film.
