Most powerful scenes

I just finished watching this. I think it is a great movie as it succeeds in evoking so much emotion!...I felt shocked, disturbed, sad, pity, angry, moved, disgusted, terrified, chilled to the bone, hopeful, happy...all in the span of two hours. Its a movie to make you think and feel.

(SPOILER ahead:)

The scene that scared me the most was when Gomez stares at Irene's cleavage.
That sick look in his eyes...To think that people like him exist and walk around seeming perfectly normal.

Also in the last scene, I couldn't help but feel horrified by Gomez's plight. Until I saw that, I kept wishing that he suffers enough to pay for what he did. But when I really saw him old and isolated, I couldn't help but feel pity. But, he deserved it.

However, I think it was the husband Morales who had it the worst. His whole life was ruined.

Well, what about you guys? Which scene did you find the most powerful or moving?

SPOILER!!!!!

Bc, very well said about the mixed/separated feelings that this MOVIE gives..
For me, the most powerful scene, begins with the back and forward sequences because then i realize that justice has been done.. in a personal way.. and it continues when Gomez ask that favor to Bj.. then, i think that Gomez regrets something.. he regrets not to be proven by the police and serves a normal sentence ..

"Que fors aus ne le sot riens nee.."

at the end of the movie when benjamin esposito looks through the bars at ricardo morales after isidoro gomez had gone and morales just says "you said life"..

Powerful scene indeed. I received the notification that someone has replied to my post. I read your post, remembered the scene and immediately fell into few moments of depression.

The elevator scene was brilliant. To be in that proximity to the psycho you worked to put away, and now he's 'untouchable' because of his government connections? And in an elevator with you? At first you aren't even sure he knows who's on the elevator with him, until he takes out his gun and puts it through the motions, very obviously. Then, when he does leave the elevator we see him looking back into it as the door closes. Great use of the reflective walls in the elevator, and you can see Irene visibly shaking. I won't forget that scene.

I forgot about that one. That had a creepy, dystopian "Brazil" type feeling for sure.

SPOILERS

If I had to pick one, the scene at the soccer stadium when they recognize Gomez. But there's so many in this movie.

Pablo turning over the photograph knowing what's about to happen.

Irena going to close the door when she thinks she and Benjamin are about to have a private conversation, the look of disappointment on her face when she finds out they're going to talk about work.

The interrogation scene.

The train scene, as the train is pullng away.

Funniest Scene: Benjamin and Pablo being reamed out by their boss for their off-duty 'detective'work.

Great Movie

There are so many and most of them have been mentioned.
I thought the scene where Irene recognises Gomez for what he is and then goads him into revealing his guilt was superb.

Great film.

For me it's the soccer stadium scene for sure.

The scene where Irene reads the train scene in the novel, and finishes with ".....if that's what happened, why didn't you take me with you?"

To think he had been thinking about that one scene for 25 years, and it turned out he was right.

you mentioned so many great scenes, shared great thoughts, thanx for those.
I would also add the scene when after Benjamin discovering Morales' secret, there is a cut to Benjamin buying flowers. At first I thought he would take them to Irene but then you see he's visiting Pablo'S grave... which he had said he hadnt had the courage to do. It's only a 1 minute scene but I think it's great that they didn't miss that from the movie.

Definitely near the end, were he stares at the piece of paper with Temo (i'm scared) in it and puts an 'a' at the word spelling Teamo. I thought it was a brilliant scene, if you think that the type machine in the story 'a' doesnt work.
