NOT A COMEDY!!!

The main character was not even funny. How can you laugh at somebody who has a serious problem and cannot fully understand the world around him? It was not on purpose that he did not understand, just that he did not have the capacity. I was VERY disappointed in that this was considered a comedy. I was looking for a funny movie to watch and ended up emotional in the end. Good movie but VERY disappointed in the genre it was advertised under on here.

yeah, seriously, put SPOILER before you give away the ending. some people do indeed like to check out a films reviews before they see it, especially if they know very little about the film. and now i know how the film ends before i've even seen it! thanks

This movie is a dramedy, part drama and part comedy. There were quite a few mildly amusing chuckle moments as well as quite a few serious ones.

thanks for ruining it, you idiot

It's not very cool putting spoilers in without a warning.
P.S. *beep* your mother.

I pretty much agree with your assesment. I can't say I was "disappointed" it wasn't a comedy, but I still liked it. I ican't even say it was a black comedy because I really coudn't find the satire or any farcical bits. But I did like the movie.

dark comedy people!! this isnt will ferell ha ha funny - it is a dark comedy, and woody does a fantastic job at it. his escape from the police situation is as comedic as you can get

I know this is over a year old and I do understand the point you're attempting to make, but it made me ask the question: Who amongst us really understands the world around us? I mean, yes the character's case was more extreme than the average person, but if we can find comedy in 7 dead astronauts (the Challenger disaster and the jokes that followed), than we can certainly laugh a well-written character whose existance (within the film) happens to be tragic. It's a dark comedy, I guess that explains it.

I didn't find this film particularly funny, either. I guess it depends on each person's sense of humour. I know it's catalogued as a dark comedy, and I clearly got the 'dark' part but didn't feel the 'comedy'. Of course I recognized the so-called 'funny' lines of the film, the moments when I was supposed to laugh, but they just did nothing for me. They were too blah and after them I was left thinking: 'So what??' Let's say that the punchlines didn't punch me. I guess it's a matter of tastes. Certainly not my cup of tea.
