Pepper Potts = The Best Female Character in Comic Book Movie History?

I've read so much praise RDJr and also for Guy Pearce and rightfully so but Gwyneth Paltrow's Pepper Potts needs more love.

She has been pitch perfect in all three movies and has made Pepper the best female character in any comic book film since Lois Lane in the original Superman.

Yes, Haley Atwell as Peggy Carter was equally wonderful and strong in Captain America but Pepper's character arc grew so much from an assistant in IM1 to a full CEO and hero in this film.

The best including heroes/main characters...

Pepper Potts
Betty Ross (Hulks)
Black Widow
Mystique (X-Films)
Mariko (The Wolverine)
Catwoman (Pfieffer only)
Lois Lane (Superman 1 & 2 only)
Peggy Carter
Lady Sif (Including Dark World... preemptive listing!)

Agree only with Betty Ross and Lois Lane. Michelle Pfeifer's Catwoman was lame. Anne Hathaway's Selina Kyle was awesome.

Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter just might be getting her own TV show on ABC if Agents of Shield hits as big as we all hope. I don't see any other character in ANY of these movies carrying their own TV show or solo movie do you?

reply

I love Gwyneth's Pepper too :)

Guardians Gamora will be the wild card. She may be unsexy and still appeal to the masses.

Pepper Potts as Rescue would be great for future Marvel movies. It would sooo suck in the little girl demographic, but I don't think (just personal opinion) that Gwyneth Paltrow is very interested in continuing as a superhero. She can go back to serious little movies that nobody goes to see, unless - unless someone offers her a wheel barrow full of money...

Or, there could be a 25ish actress out there who would LOVE to be Rescue.

Marvel gets a ton of the female demographic as is. That's why they have the number one box office film the last two years. Marvel gives us complex female characters as well as guys that women can admire and fawn over.

I really think Jane and Sif will re-write this thread in a few months.

reply

No one knows. Then I'm sure Peggy's niece Sharon Carter won't exactly be a wall flower in Captain America The Winter Soldier.

reply

Let's not forget that Gamora is the most dangerous woman in the universe.

reply

Now we know that Sharon was just a set up character and I pray we see much more of her in Civil War.

She's a big reason why this film is a hit with everyone. Men enjoy her but women admire the character.

I seriously doubt that. I've heard and read where people have said if they had replaced Paltrow as Potts they wouldn't have cared. I'm not a fan of Paltrow but I did like her somewhat as Potts. Let's not forget she was voted the most hated celebrity in the world. However if I had to choose it would be ScarJo as Black Widow, strong woman but yet has a human element to her.

People give Potts credit for avoiding Starks advances for so long. Yet if you think about it- she always wanted him -she just didn't want to end up like the rest of his one night stands. She was pining for him for all those years and she finally got what she really wanted and that was for him to fall in love with her. You could clearly see in the first IM that she had a thing for him.
If she was truly put off by his playboy ways she would have never succumb to him, no matter what.

She was a team player that played her role to perfection.
