I came across the thread title "Watched it today; best superhero film ever, just brilliant film period" on the Avengers page again and now I think of this film. It's amazing that Marvel can now give us at least one film a year where people can use terms like "the best ever" and mean it.
As far as comparing it to other third installments while I thought "Iron Man 3" was a good movie I prefer "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King", "Return of the Jedi", "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade", "Die Hard With A Vengeance", "The Dark Knight Rises", and "Skyfall" all to it. Though naturally that's just in my own opinion.
Well, best third film of the genre for sure. At least most of us agree about that. Whether it's better than Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade or Return of the King is a matter for debate.
I really don't get the hate towards this flick. It was straight up entertaining as hell. I've never read a single iron man comic so maybe that's why I'm not crying into my chocolate milk like some of these nerds. As a follow up to the Avengers it was perfect. Not as crazy over the top and with more of a focus on the fact that Tony really is just a MAN.
@Reading_Rainbow I really don't get the hate towards this flick. I didn't realize that there was hatred towards IM3 until I came here after watching it. I can understand some people being disappointed (after all that hype it's bound to happen), but how can anyone hate a movie this watchable?
Really? Iron Man one is definitely (the only) good Iron Man film, but I wouldn't call it a classic. Batman Begins takes that spot, since it was more deep, better-made, and more faithful to its source material. The appreciation for the source material was always the weakest part of Iron Man films.

Iron Man 3 delivers action with great emotional moments and a movie that lives up to all the hype it has generated. It hits a high standard of excellence. Higher than even the other two films of this franchise and that says a lot. IM3 does so by combining humor, a complex plot that takes MANY twists and turns, breathtaking action sequences, a heavy dose of self discovery and realization, betrayal, forgiveness, love and puts it all together in one amazing package.
Yes, they could have phoned this movie in after Avengers and still made a ton of cash. We’ve seen it happen a lot to be honest. Yet, Marvel proves that they want to keep the ball rolling and will not take anything for granted. I love that factor. Iron Man 3 certainly is a much hyped blockbuster that hits the mark with such power that it resonates above all other third films. Much like the first film, it’s truly deep and complex but sacrifices none of the fun. It also trounces the first film in terms of action. Building upon what’s come before, the inner turmoil worked very well. The beautiful thing is that we can relate to each character, especially that of Tony Stark. Stark’s indomitable charm mixed with his newly troubled and always flawed character. It really does makes this hero more interesting then most and makes this movie a perfect treat.
That critic quote sums it up best for me.

They really could have phoned this movie in after Avengers but they know that they want the ride to continue for years and years. That's why they didn't.
The attitude in this thread is the attitude everyone needs to take. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. People that hate on this film with an agenda need to realize that raging against a movie this good is futile.

This is the most pretentious, baffling, imbecilic statement that I've ever read on IMDB. People who don't like this film (like me) will continue to not like this film, since that's the way our perception on this perfunctory film was formed. This movie is no Day of the Jackal, so why there should be any question about why people don't like it? It's a shallow, superficial, trivial, bland movie with sapless characters. It's understandable why some people don't like it, since it's divisive, like it or not.

Your avatar is the definition of saltiness, if you ask me.
Maybe, but it would be the case if I hated the DCEU (witch i don't) and blindly loved the MCU (considering that I have some flaws with some of their films). Aside from that, I think is genually funny (considering the actual situation of both franchises). And well, ask you... a hypocrite; a hypocrite that acuses other of being a waste and yet, feels if he does the same things but is less "agressive" as the ones he calls "waste of oxygen", somehow it means what it does is justified?
BvS's bullying is irrelevant at this point.
Like if I even care. Plus I like BvS. I just found funny the image.

This is an exquisite film. I thought it was smart, well written, visually stunning, very well directed, and struck just the right tone for the material. There’s really no other movie you can compare this one too.
Side note, does anyone get a kick out of all the Thor 2 ads IMDB is running and how they must be driving the anti-Marvel attack dogs crazy on this site?
So many haters on this site. They need to chillax. Dream your dream. Follow your heart. Imagine. Listen to the wind. Drink sunsets. Be free. Let the wonder never cease. Believe. Wish on EVERY star. Create adventure. Be Kind.
