Yet ANOTHER reboot!

Apparently this "new trilogy" is ignoring the TV series events and once again claiming its the ONLY "official sequel" to the 1973 movie. Made by the guy did the latest version of Halloween (which also said ALL the previous Halloween sequels didn't "count"), so not surprising. Hollywood gets angry at fans for ignoring sequels we don't like, but THEY do it all the time!

So now we have four versions of canon:

- The Exorcist, Exorcist II: The Heretic
- The Exorcist, The Exorcist III: Legion
- The Exorcist, The Exorcist 2016 TV Series
- The Exorcist, The Exorcist 2022 Movie Trilogy

There's also TWO Exorcist prequels (both 2005), which ignore each other, but can fit in any canon since they take place before the original film.

In any case, we now have Exorcist II, Exorcist III, The Exorcist 2016 TV series, and this "New Trilogy" with Ellen Burstyn ALL claiming to be the "direct sequel" to the 1973 film, and telling us to disregard all the other installments because they "never happened".

Congrats, you've now made The Exorcist into the Highlander universe of horror franchises.

Who knows it might be amazing.

Actually, I'd say Exorcist 1, 2, and 3 are in the same cannon despite what William Peter Blatty and Exorcist fans say.

I'm not sure 2 or 3 would even affect the premise at all. What really happened in those films that changed the original film?

reply

Still not as bad as Halloween
