I cry every single time
I think it depends on the viewer, but i have cried in the end all 4 times i ve seen this movie. The final scene is phenomenal in terms of music, acting and directing.

shareVery much agreed....
shareI thought I was the only one who cried at the end, glad I'm not the only one!

Oh yes, I either tear up or completely lose it every time I watch that last scene. And I mean every time. It's great.

The scene in the hotel room when Paddy relapses and Tommy lays him down and comforts him. That gets me. Every single time.
shareIt's on IFC now. I've seen the film in excess of 100 times.
I can't make it through the opening scene of Hardy and Nolte. A lot of it is simply the acting, but much of it is personal and does hit home, especially the "I guess Jesus was down at the mill, forgiving all the drunks." It literally fits my personal life.
The first time I watched this I think I full out bawled at least 9 or 10 times and I'm not a cryer. It was very odd.
I completely forget there is MMA in this film. I couldn't care less about it.
Hardy was Oscar worthy in it, as was Nolte. Edgerton was very good as well.
same here!!!
shareJust watched it again tonight. Must have been a dozen times or so and it gets me every time.
1. "If you don't knock him out, you don't have a home" - And ofc the following win over Koba
2. For some reason, when it is announced (what we already know) that the 2 are brothers
3. And naturally the last scene of what causes him to tap out
Same here. The National spot was...spot on... and the Brothers walking together down the hall away from the cage. Pure cinematic history! :)
