Although suddenly switching from science to mysticism was not the best idea ...

One thing would had been interesting: to not show the baby in the last episode and leave the whole thing a mystery, also not to make it clear who "wins".

Exact my thoughts. The switch away from science was a little stupid, some kind of deus ex machina.
But hey, the ending was one of the happiest ever (although they should have finally killed this awful Asian bitch 🙄).
