Chainsaw + Infected Arm = Cure?

Why did the guy in the blue jacket cut his own arm off with the chainsaw? The zombie's disease or whatever would already be in his bloodstream, plus the chainsaw was covered in zombie blood. And he'd probably orally and optically ingested lots of zombie blood and brain during the fight anyway!

Hey, it worked in Day of the Dead.

The fat guy's t-shirt has a Braindead poster on it. ;-)

Oh, and Walking Dead season 3 has someone saved from a zombie bite by amputation. Maybe it works because the bite causes necrosis of the living tissue rather than a blood-borne virus. Like gangrene. You cut off the limb to save the body.

Well it's not like he was thinking rationally

:P

GET HIM A BODYBAG...YEAH!!!!

reply

It's actually never established in the movie that the Nazis are brought back by any kind of infection or virus. The kids had just seen too many movies and were not thinking rationally (if that's possible when being pursued by undead Nazis) and jumped to some unfounded conclusions.

reply

Yeah, it was pretty irrational (bet you'd be too if you just slaughtered a bunch of undead and got covered in "zombie" gore). He listened to what his fat late "movie nerd" friend said and took it to heart. He even considered cutting off his...uhh...package, I guess (though I'm not sure what was left to cut off at that point).

Anyway, it was all part of the joke.

It depends on who you're asking this question of. Are you asking it of the character? The character saw it in Evil Dead 2 and assumes this to be his saving grace.

Or are you asking it of the writers of the movie? The correct answer would be "because that's what this character would have done". It's not relevant that it's right or wrong. Plus, there is no basis one way or another that it would be right or wrong - there are no "laws" of zombie science, and until a movie establishes them they don't exist in the context of the storyline.

reply

The nazis became zombies because of some curse long ago. So if he had thought about it there were no virus and he wouldn't have become a zombie. He just didn't think! Haha! Loved that scene.

And when someone bit his dong he just though "*beep* it".

Erlend, who is a movie freak, put the idea of "do not get bitten by zombies, or you'll turn into one" into Martin's head when they were attacked by zombies. And he got bit, and in a sense of panicked desperation, he cut off his arm.
