James McAvoy overacting....

Am I the only one that thought that James McAvoy overacted terribly in this movie? I'm a big X-men fan and was super excited to see the movie, especially a young Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr, but didn't care for McAvoy's performance at all. Michael Fassbender did an amazing job, pretty much the only one who did a good job, and in my opinion made what could have been a terrible movie decent.

McAvoy reminded me more of Austin Powers than Patrick Stewart.

McAvoy was phenomenal.

McAvoy was great, though he didn't act like he had ever seen Patrick Stewart's Xavier for reference. He just put his own stamp on it, which I guess worked. Fessbender, though...he CRUSHED it in this movie. He stole every scene he was in

So much so that Xavier's older self in Days of Future Past told Wolverine, and I quote, "I was a very different man then. You'll have to be patient with me."

🙌🙌 Agreed re. Fassbender.

I thought he was fine. I didnt think anything of Fassbender. He didnt have the charisma of McKellan--in fact the movie floored me because other than McAvoy and perhaps the guy playing Hank McCoy, the other actors- the young uns, were so devoid of charisma.
Jennifer Lawrence included.
I thought I was watching a high school drama rehearsal when they discuss giving themselves names.

I dont think it was just me not paying attention because I watched Guardians of the Galaxy recently and Chris Pratt is also a very weak actor.
Some of the people hailed as great new discoveries wouldnt be able to hold a scene with actors in movies from 40 years ago. They had more screen presence, stronger voices and appearance than today.
