Regarding Mystique and Charles

So, only yesterday decided to watch this movie, and sorry, if this question has been posted before, but I've got to ask.

So, in X-Men 2 we see Mystique infiltrating the X-Men school and injecting some sort of a serum into cerebro, which paralysis Charle's brain when he uses it in order to find the mutants. While in X-Men: First Class we see that Mystique and Charles are living like brother and sister and even part on good terms. So, what the hell happened?

They had a falling out at the end of this movie. Evidently, over the years that gulf between them was eventually widened enough by listening to Magneto preach that she placed a higher value on 'mutant liberation' than she did on Charles' friendship.

Very in-character really. In the comics Mystique has never been anyone's friend forever. She's just too selfish.

Ah, thanks for the answer.

I think the real answer is that the writers of this film forgot about that scene from the original.

LOL.

What's to forget? It's not like she sought to kill him. She poisoned him so he would be out of commission while Magneto effected his plan. The original idea was no doubt that Magneto, out of friendship to Xavier, was the one who didn't want him killed and thus had Mystique do something that would just deliberate him for a spell. However, if you think Mystique would still have sympathy for Xavier after everything she had been through (being tortured, developing a love for killing, despising everything Xavier stood for) then you can act as though she was involved in the decision to spare him if you like.

reply

She was loyal to Destiny in the comics
