So the symbiote is voiced over by someone who is clearly African-American. Thus the movie is basically about white society embracing the black element into it. Or maybe it's based on an idea that whites secretly envy blacks for being strong, big, agile etc. Or (as it was the case with X-Men) it's about homosexuality once again. Not that I'm going to watch it but still.

As to putting too much meaning... Well, if you can interpret a certain thing in an unusual way, this only means that the possibility of such an interpretation was immanent to such thing from the very start.
BTW, while watching the Venom trailer I immediately thought of James Earl Jones after the symbiote says 'Do we have a deal?' Not in connection with Star Wars (that somehow didn't cross my mind), but in connection with Jones' role in Conan. And most likely that was the effect the producers were aiming for - bringing back certain memories.
Clearly Sony cares about broadcasting socially progressive messages through comic book movies.
