For some reason, the song was deleted in the original film. It would be nice to see it in this movie.
shareIf I recall, Once In A While sounded more like a song that fitted in with a deliberately schmaltzy musical like Little Shop of Horrors. If they put it it, I think it'll be more for a kitsch, niche, factor rather than as being fit to stand next to the other songs in the show.
shareIf I had to bet, and we'll see in a few months, they won't include the song. Unless this guy playing Brad is some great vocalist. Or par for the course of screwing things up they may give the song to another character like Rocky.
Personally I don't miss the song. I like it, but I think they made the right decision for pacing.

Barry Bostwick really had a lot his stuff cut, particularly as he was the singer and Susanne wasnt.
Not a rumor. It really does exist (I've seen it).
Apparently, Richard O'Brien had the idea (while drinking) and decided to film it.
It isn't brutal or anything, but it wasn't something that worked with the story.
Richard regretted filming it and it was cut (and hopefully lost and forgotten).

Well they've remade the MOVIE VERSION, not the PLAY. So I would guess they wouldn't include songs not in the original production. Though the original script included, "Once In A While", also scenes for this were filmed and Bostwick recorded the track.
Just got to wait and see...
If that's the case, then Rocky may talk in this movie like he did in the original stage play. Though I can see a lot of "virgins" complaining about that. I always assumed he didn't talk in the 1975 film version because the actor who played Rocky couldn't act. So they decided to remove his lines.

Okay, I finally listen to a sample of the new version of Once in a While. And I thought it was just okay. Not as good as the 1973 version, though. Don't know why no version comes close to the original?
shareThinking that it was one of the few things that could've set the remake apart, I was disappointed that the song got the axe again... until I heard it. Christopher Malcolm's version had a raw emotional core. Barry Bostwick's rendition was hauntingly beautiful. McCartan's take features a peppy, upbeat piano tempo which thoroughly undermines both his vocals and the song lyrics. I'd say I'm probably happy that the scene wound up on the cutting room floor, but it's a travesty that the other 90 minutes of film didn't get discarded along with it.
