Ernest Borgnine

Oscar winner Ernest Borgnine gives a wonderful turn as Henry the record keeper. Still going strong at 93, you can also hear him as the voice of "Mermaid Man" on the Sponge Bob Square Pants animated cartoon. He's certainly had a great and varied career!

I agree, I love his work. I liked him in "A Grandfather For Christmas", on Hallmark.

reply

he played a great bad guy in "From Here to Eternity." In this I wish he'd had more scenes w/Helen Mirren

reply

When I think of him, first thing that comes to my mind is his role as co-pilot in "Airwolf" :)

reply

I agree! Ernest was very good in "Red".
When I think of Ernest Borgnine, first thing that comes to my mind is his role as "Shack" in "Emperor of the North"! Great role and even better film!

reply

Ernest Borgnine, The Wild Bunch!
Nothing more to be said really.
Legend.

Keef, trying to make sense out of chaos!

i think of the line "she looks like ernest borgnine" in grumpier old men when jake suggests walter matthau start dating again.

Oh no! I misspelled one word and suddenly my entire argument is dismantled.

reply

I thought he was awesome in Red. I also really liked his role as Cabbie in Escape From New York.

Movies Last Seen
Red: 3.5/5
Black Swan: 4.5/5
Tron: Legacy: 4/5

reply

No no, his best film was Marty, largely forgotten now but really worth watching.

reply

Agreed. Great acting, a great role, and a great movie. Just think, he made that over half a century ago, and he's still acting. How many of today's "stars" will still be active 50 years from now? (Just a rhetorical question; I won't be alive in 50 years.)

reply

Forgotten by whom?? He won the Oscar for that!

reply

I'm so glad someone mentioned Marty, one of my all time favourite films. He really shines in that role, but he's a true actor who can put on many faces and it's a thrill to see him in anything.

reply

He was great in "Johnny Guitar", also.

reply

By far Posidon Adventure!

reply

He was awesome as always, and he also hasn't aged a bit in the past 30 years!

Tesla was robbed!

reply

Great role. Perfect for him. Excellenty under-rated film.

"No f@cking sh`t lady does it sound like I'm ordering a pizza!"

reply

Hurray for Ernest!

Please watch my shorthttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt1424542/, click trailer (its the film!)

reply

I think of the cop with the hooker wife in THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE shouting at Gene Hackman.

"Pffft, my suspension of disbelief has higher standards than that"

reply

"YOU! PREACHER! YOU LYING MURDERING SON OF A BITCH!"

That's good stuff!

When I think of Ernest Borgnine, the first thing that comes to mind is him getting the everloving crap kicked out of him by a one-armed Spencer Tracy in Bad Day at Black Rock.

I have a new philosophy. I'm only going to dread one day at a time.
