shareI live 10 miles from any direction to the nearest town (40 miles in any direction to any city) and the one thing 99% of all people that are out here with me (though, that's not too many) is a gun. The gun isn't just for protection from prowlers but animals, too. Wild animals are usually more of a threat than humans. 2nd: a dog. 3rd: an alarm system. And 4th: a light, like a street light. Mine costs $11 a month, and it's handy in complete darkness.

I initially misread the title as "Don't go to a remote location by yourself when you're smoking pot". A misreading, but sound advice. I'd have had a gun at least, gone easy on the alcohol (she mostly did this), and skipped the pot altogether. After all, one doesn't need to be drunk or stoned if their wellbeing may require straight shooting.

People assume they have nothing to worry about at all times, but someone could break into your home and terrorize you tonight if they wanted to.
