Saw it last night and it's so much better than the first movie. Not perfect, but still a big improvement. Way more fateful to the source material, humor landed better, and the action sequences were a lot of fun.
Agreed. For some reason I liked this one much better than the first which is a rare for sequels. I actually enjoyed Carrey more this time than the last as well while also remembering he talked about retiring so we may not see him in the 3rd installment or a different actor portraying Robotnik. Overall it gave the fans what they wanted coming from a Sonic franchise with the Master Emerald gem stone to Sonic going Super. Idris Alba plays a fine Knuckles as well. The voice matches the character. Tails sounds like tails too, like the actual one from the cartoons even though Sonic's voice has changed from time to time. The animation can get dull in some scenes and by that I mean degradation of sort where it looks like crappy animation which I surmise is due to the Fx lighting or something. It looks plastic or lower grade 3D. I can't explain it but it looks almost like PS3 graphics in certain scenes. Can't wait to see Shadow in the 3rd installment.

-Knuckles and Tails, simply their presence adds a lot more to the story.

-The whole scene of Sonic running on the water, very cool
-An introduction of Shadow at the end.

The only scene I didn't like was the dance off. I wish they had taken that out. They chose the worst song.
I can agree with you on the animation sometimes, but usually it's very good!
Other than that, it felt a lot like the videogame. This seemed more like Sonic to me.
By the way, I didn't know if you knew this, but the reason that "Tails sounds like Tails" is because the actress has been voicing Tails for many years!
Yeah, the first one was more of a generic kids movie. This one had a lot more of the action-adventure elements from the games, and Idris Elba was amazing.
shareIt felt like more of a Sonic movie to me than the first one, especially with all of the additional characters, the chaos emeralds, Super Sonic, and Robotnik actually looking like he should. There were some weird sequences though like the whole wedding scene which I did find quite funny, but it felt incredibly misplaced in this film. Overall, I enjoyed it probably as much of the first one, maybe a bit more, and thought it was a fun film. There were tons of kids in the theater I was in and there was lots of laughter so I think this will do well.
shareI actually thought the wedding scene was pretty good with the twist, the issue is though that it just kept on going and going. After the reveal that should have been the end of it, I didn't need all that stuff with the fat chick wanting to get payback
shareHer driving the golf cart was funny af. The scene they should've left out was showing that the guy actually loves her. That's just unnecessary and wishy-washy.

They are both OK kids movies. Jim is still the best part of the franchise.
I barely got through it. This is geared more towards the kids of today, rather than the adults who grew up playing the games. Same with the first film. Only reason why it did so well at the Box Office.
Hats off to Jim Carrey once again. He made it less of a chore to watch.
