Interesting to see how our American cousins seem to think we're a bunch of helpless damsels in distress over here.
Let's see. 3 to 4 million men army. In the case of North Korea on the technical standard of the early 60s. Well, million men army with a few flying relics, meet around 2000 4th and 5th generation jet fighters. Hello Russian navy mostly inherited from the Soviet Union, meet around 550 modern warships. They would never reach Berlin. The fight would devastate Poland but there is no chance in hell that such a hypothetical army could reach German ground.
Europe is conceived as weak because people tend to view each country separately. But in a case as presented in this incredibly stupid movie, they would pool their *beep* together in no time. Throw in the Swiss and the only thing that could be a danger on the home soil would be the US military. It's also considered weak because we don't waltz around invading random countries (yet). There is a reason why European militaries shy away from creating great heavy lifting capabilities - there is no political will to play global policeman. That's a good thing in my opinion.
Anyway, concerning the OP. An invasion of the US, implausible as it is, would first and foremost kill the economic system dead. See what the breaking down of one bank did. Imagine what happened if they all went dark over night. No more imports, no more exports and all the dollar reserves in the world, suddenly worthless. We are looking at more turmoil than any military action would cause. As such, there would be a few weeks of complete chaos while things reorganize themselves. But then, we'd come. Probably together with the Canadians, Mexicans and the ANZAC. It wouldn't even be a selfless act of allied fidelity but simple self defense. No US - no Europe. No Europe - no US. For all our differences, the west is so intertwined these days we'd have to stand together no matter what.
