At what point in history is this present day white supremacist getting thrust back to where the African Americans rule and the Whites are enslaved? I must have been home from school ill the day the lesson about that was taught.
"North African pirates abducted and enslaved more than 1 million Europeans between 1530 and 1780 in a series of raids that depopulated coastal towns from Sicily to Cornwall, according to new research.
Thousands of white Christians were seized every year to work as galley slaves, labourers and concubines for Muslim overlords in what is today Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Libya, it is claimed.
Scholars have long known of the slave raids on Europe. But US historian Robert Davis has calculated that the total number captured - although small compared with the 12 million Africans shipped to the Americas in later years - was far higher than previously recognised.
His new book, Christian Slaves, Muslim Masters: White Slavery In The Mediterranean, The Barbary Coast, And Italy, 1500-1800, concluded that 1 million to 1.3 million ended up in bondage."
It isn't total fiction. But, perhaps this movie is making the premise of it being an alternate America where blacks are the majority and whites are only 13% of the population. Who knows? lol
I wonder if any of their writings described "the white man" as inferior and sub-human or if they just abducted them out of convenience because Europe is close to North Africa.
I think it probably started by pure convenience. If that's the case it would be interesting to find writings, like you suggest, that would explain if their dominance, over the years, made them look at these white prisoners as slaves and then purely as inferior beings.
True. I mean, there are some cringe writings of black supremacists who claim that "black is a dominant trait, white is a recessive trait" and dumb shit like that.
Kind of like not feeling sorry for a rapist who gets thrown in jail, who also gets a "taste" of his own medicine. But then again, when things go round like that, the line gets blurry between right/wrong and it gets tougher to justify this whole eye-for-eye, karma, revenge thing.
But that's more realistic than the clean cut manichean view of the world that a lot of people find comfort in.
True. But, there does come a time where the punishment is enough. After the rapist gets raped a whole bunch of times, there will come a point where he doesn't deserve it anymore and it wouldn't be fun to laugh at him anymore.
Exactly... that's my whole point. And to reflect on that is what make related movies interesting (I'm assuming what the movie's going to be like... probably something I shouldn't do).
I keep thinking "American History X" since I read the summary. The setting will be different enough but I hope the general idea is not just a rip off of AHX.
