Suitably dumbed down for American audiences
Hollywood garbage remakes have no place here in Europe. We have standards.

shareThe Yankees ARE dumb... they've been paying disproportionately for European defense for 70 years now.
Of course, that's about to change under their new Prez.
So, less time for Europeans to watch movies (like giving a "10" for "Eight Heads in a Dufflebag"?!) and more long hours of work to pay for their own anti-missile shield.

Let Me In made more money in countries not America than Let the Right One In did. Made more money in the UK than Let the Right One In. Those facts getting in the way of good old simple minded xenophobia.
shareTo be fair this was always going to make more in england little things like how many theaters it played in and what language it was made in make a difference believe it or not..
shareSo you believe cinema box office sales determine which version is the most watched and therefore must be the preferred version for us Brits?
Wow! Did you finish school?

So Hammer being a british company means it's not a hollywood production?
Wow! Tell me, did you finish school?

"obviously" you are dumb.

This OP needs to @#$% off and get a real life. As if America is the only country that remakes, adapts, and "dumbs down" movies. And this movie was an IMPROVEMENT over the original. Sometimes less is more, and this was an example of it.
shareWatcher101 and HarpoSpoke are hardcore fanboys who will not get tired of defending and claiming that it is not American. No Point in arguing. Let them believe it :)
They will also not get tired of defending and praising the great America. Even though basically the whole world is looking down on them and the image and cliches people have of them do not just come from nowhere. This doesnt mean all Americans are simple and dumb. But having met quite many already i can say that a vast majority is! And a lot of American movies reflect it quite well.
"This movie was an improvement over the original". Man, that was funny ;D

No, i dont believe theres a biological difference. Theres a cultural and educational difference.
Oh boy. Are you really that naive?
Germany is No. 2 and we, the people, are anything but popular. Immigration is determined by a strong job market and a growing industry which the USA does offer. People mostly come to work in order to earn money and afford a decent life and not because they adore you.
If you take a look at the immigrants by countries you will see that the leading ones come from poor countries (Mexico, India, China, Vietnam etc.)

The U.S. receives largely positive reviews among many of its key NATO allies. About two-in-three Canadians have a favorable opinion, as do large majorities in Italy, Poland, France, the UK and Spain. The outlier is Germany, where just 50% give the U.S. a positive rating, while 45% express a negative one. America’s image has become more negative in Germany over the last few years – as recently as 2011, 62% of Germans gave the U.S. a favorable review and only 35% assigned a negative rating.http://www.pewglobal.org/2015/06/23/1-americas-global-image/
Among the GII 2016 leaders, four economies — Japan, the U.S., the UK, and Germany— stand out in “innovation quality,” a top-level indicator that looks at the caliber of universities, number of scientific publications and international patent filings.
"Anti US-agenda?"
Dont you think thats a little far-fetched?
I have absolutely no problem with the USA!
In fact, most of my favourite movies are American.
Your misunderstanding, misinterpreting and your twisting of my words is getting really tiring.
This is a movie critic site, stop bombing it with your sociology political tripe.
It is you who wrote "America had nothing to do with LMI being made. You want to believe it, but the facts don't back you up."
Let us examine your facts shall we dummy; Overture and Relative Media are both US, the entire production team is US, leading actors, director, music score, CGI FX, etc all US, not to mention the 20million Bucks sourced from US to finance LMI.
But hey don't let these facts get in the way of your "America had nothing to do with LMI being made. You want to believe it, but the facts don't back you up."
Dumbasses like you are hopefully a rarity in your country.

"Well thanks for revealing your anti-US agenda even more clearly than before. America had nothing to do with LMI being made. You want to believe it, but the facts don't back you up. "
Wow! Just how dumb do you think people are? We are not so far down the line of logic, intelligence and general knowledge basic economics and standard business practices that you seem to be.
I am simply discombobulated at your utter lack of common basic understanding about how industry functions in all sectors not just motion pictures. I don't know what level of schooling you have received and if you are American or from a different part of the world, but here in Europe we would simply never make such outlandish illogical statements like your "America had nothing to do with LMI being made."
Dear God please if you are American please never admit it as your countrymen would be fatally embarrassed at your more than inadequate and extreme ignorance of facts and sheer incompetence at learning even the very basics of how industry functions.
I have to require you because I simply can't believe somebody in the 21st century would write this: "America had nothing to do with LMI being made. You want to believe it, but the facts don't back you up."
Well there you have it folks - The United States of America in the 21st century believes the following: "America had nothing to do with LMI being made. You want to believe it, but the facts don't back you up."
Ok, it's apparent now that these two douchebags are just trolls trying to riles people up. Ignore and they'll go jerk-off at some other BS posting they did where they're still getting responses.
shareHollywood makes dumbed down remakes for the whole world. Americans are only a small percentage of the market. Films need to be easily translated and understood by many diverse countries and cultures. That's how you make money. So they gotta be bland and basic as possible.
share"Hollywood makes dumbed down remakes for the whole world."
What are the dumbed down remakes that they've made? If they're dumb... Then why are they dumb?
What are the qualities of these original films that make them "not dumb?"
Is something "bland" or "basic" about LMI?
I don’t know, I watched them both back to back and they were pretty close to being identical. Except for maybe having less really stupid haircuts in Let Me In.
shareI've seen enough French films. Believe me, you don't.
