First 2 episodes suck - does the show get better?

I heard so many good things about this series. But the first two episodes suck. The plot seems to be swerving in so many directions, with so many characters: there’s the cult guy, the goat mask guy, the detective. And there’s too much talk / exposition

Should I just shut this off after 2 episodes, or does this series get better?

The show sucks as was clear in the first few minutes of episode one.
