Sooo I liked the movie, but how did Rice Cake Girl know the junk collector for him to be on her phone's list of men she slept with without any indication or irrefutable proof of the two of them having a coital affair or even know each other? He just was there for no reason but to create tension (plot filler) then? That's not a good thing to do, Mr. Screenplay writer.
I agree. Why was the junk man's picture on her cell phone? He never mentions meeting her before. Yet this is a crusial plot point because the story would not move forward without it. We can assume that they must have met before but the movie never tell this to the viewer. Bad editing?
Obviously, the "Junk-Man" wouldn't tell the mother that he knew the girl because that is sensitive information. As he was one of her customers, he wouldn't want word to get out that he was having sex with a minor.
My guess is he was waiting there for the girl, as a meeting spot for their "business". And anyone doing shaddy business sneaking around, stays hidden. That would explain why he didn't come out of his hiding as a responsible adult would and also didn't tell anyone what he saw. What was he afraid of? A retarded kid? Who would take the kid's word over his.
She was sleeping with anyone who would give her money. She was offering it for such a low price that even the trash collector could afford it. She had her friend hack the phone so she could take pictures of each of the guys she had sex with, without them knowing it.
It didn't have to be, but I would assume he was there for that reason. You think they just met each other by coincidence, and she took a close up picture of him? For what, looking through her collection of customers and comparing them to the picture of the Junk Man, thinking "at least they're not as disgusting as him"?
I support the theory of llxs-a-r-m-a-dxll. We even saw him preparing a sheet for the act, and he gave a pretty weak explanation for him being there that night that was obviously just him trying to avoid telling he was there to buy sex. Understandable, and in unison with his caracter.
For what, looking through her collection of customers and comparing them to the picture of the Junk Man, thinking "at least they're not as disgusting as him"?
LOL. For some reason I find this option endlessly hilarious. _____ I suppose on a clear day you can see the class struggle from here.
Not a plot hole at all. Go back and watch the movie and see these details:
-When Jin-tae was questioning the high school boys in the abandoned amusement park, one of them laughed about how the girl got paid in rice instead of money
-During the flashback when the junk collector was recalling that night, before he witnessed the murder, he arrived at the abandoned house, spread a mat, and TOOK A BAG OF UNCOOKED RICE OUT OF ANOTHER BAG and emptied the extra rice pellets from one bag to the other, presumably as her payment for services to be rendered
This undeniably proves that the junk collector was one of her johns.
after watching the movie, I had the same question in mind, but some members here have a good answer:
(I will repeat what I read) she was a whore, the junk man was a client and he paid for her "service" with rice. Remember the guys at the amusement park who said she accepted rice and laughed about it? also the junk man the night the girl was killed was "getting ready for her" (spreading the sheet and preparing rice!). Can't miss that.
He just didn't tell the Mom he was a pedophile. Why would he? The girl's dead.
