I read the book
and loved it
shareI saw one or two hour-long documentaries about the lost expedition. I tend to be really interested in that kind of thing, but for some reason Z didn't especially spark me. I felt like it passed the time pretty well, but it didn't get me quite the way I expected. I know that's not the same as this specific property, so I'm still looking forward to watching it, but probably as a rental.
shareHey, yeah I saw it and would definitely recommend watching it. It's very well done and almost every aspect except the pacing is somewhat slow.
I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance. A review of the movie here https://youtu.be/pqGSrSwmQ7s
I saw the movie tonight and I wanted to love it but it was a miss for me. I love this type of history, it's really my favorite. I think the reason I find it so thrilling is that this was just one hundred years ago!!!!! That always amazes me. In 1917, we didn't know what the jungles in Bolivia looked like or what history it held. We still don't know very much. But......the movie, it had that excitement in the first half and somehow faltered in the second half. I'm not sure why. It was very well reviewed so it might be me. I should check out the book because it's usually better anyway.
sharethe book is very good
shareI have to agree with you, while I did enjoy the movie very much, I felt the first half was pretty exciting, while the second half really lost some steam. I'm not sure what it is, maybe too much war stuff, not enough jungle and exploration... When he went back at the end it seemed like almost nothing happened. I think they should have shown more of their last expedition.
shareI agree. They went into such detail in the first half and sort of mailed it in in the second half. Interesting story, though.
