First time Arnold actually spoke his natural language?

I loved hearing it, first time I've ever heard him speak anything other than english. Is it his first time in a film doing that? I don't remember him speaking it in Hercules. And do you think he'll ever play a nazi?

This was very interesting for me as well. A few years ago I realized I had never actually heard him speak German before. I looked and looked but couldn't even find interviews where he used it. I guessed he was trying to distance himself from it. Was fun to finally hear what he sounds like using it. Hopefully someone writes a role for him where he can use it more.

On a side note, Bruce Willis was born in Germany and is supposedly fluent in German, but I can't find any examples of him speaking it either.

I remember hearing a story about when they were dubbing the German version of The Terminator. Apparently Arnie offered to do the dubbing for his own character but the German distributors turned him doing because they felt his strong Austrian accent would sound too rural and German audiences wouldn't be able to take him seriously.

German is not my mother-tongue and I have to say that I found it quite hard to understand Arnie when he was speaking it - I really had to listen in carefully. In comparison, watching, say, Inglorious Basterds was much easier.

I think in True Lies he spoke a foreign language as well. Can't remember which.

haha if arnie started his career now he'd have to lose that accent or all he'd be playing is a nazi villain or an extra on "vikings"
