I can accept Beyond Thunderdome at #5.
Fury Road at #1 is insane.
Furiosa at #2 is insane.
Mad Max 2 at #3 is flat out impossible.
Mad Max at #4 is beyond pathetic.

i read the ranking in disbelief

itd be like doing an Alien ranking and putting Alien Romulus and Prometheus as 1st and 2nd with Alien and Aliens as 3rd and 4th best

Gen Z's for you i guess

What would your order be?

reply

No. As it stands mad max fury road has better ratings across the board than any mad max movie. Alien and Aliens has better ratings across the board than any other Alien movies does. So no wrong. This showcases that just because something is newer does it mean it will by default have better ratings.

How much did the franchise pay for these rankings?

I think the feminist angle has a lot to do with it. I genuinely think if George Miller had the balls to make Joe a more three dimensional villain, Fury Road and Furiosa wouldn't get half as much praise because the feminists would've probably have called him sexist.

The original films had complexities. In 1, the MFP are either morally bankrupt or (like Max) on the verge of going crazy themselves. In 2, Max only helps the oil refinery for selfish reasons, and you have Humungus saying to Wez "We've all lost someone we love" as well having the gun case to show he's ex-military. Even Thunderdome which was completely watered down had nuance because Aunty wasn't evil, just a bit power mad.

By the time we get to Fury Road, it's just a typical good guys vs bad guys action film. It would've been more fascinating if Miller had gone the route of making the audience not necessarily liking Joe but understanding his intentions.
