Just checked theaters in my area and all are empty for tonight and opening weekend! Might not even hit $30 million. Miller should have just made another Mad Max movie

shareI saw it at 3:30 in Dolby Atmos today and it was pretty empty. I know it's a weekday afternoon, but I've seen other Thursday afternoon shows at the same theater a lot more full like Civil War for example.
shareFor pre-sales in my theater, it doesn't look great. Even on $5 Tuesday.
But, I assume (take that for what you will) that it should do fine enough.
If that happens, a likely explanation is that people felt that they already watched this movie.
