Aaron Cross vs Bourne?
Who seems more skilled in your opinion?
Also, I actually expected this film to be better. It was blatantly formulaic, I guess the people behind the making didn't want to take any chances and played safe.

Who can say? They're both highly trained.
shareBourne is more skilled.
shareUnless you see them go up against each other, you have no way to know that. The question simply hasn't been addressed. It's just your opinion because I'm guessing you like Bourne better.
shareComparison would be difficult, because they were part of different programs and have different skill-sets and backgrounds.
Jason Bourne was trained as an assassin. As such, he would presumably be far more skilled in unarmed combat, lethal techniques etc.
Aaron Cross however was trained primarily as a spy, so he would presumably be more skilled at infiltration, blending into environments, and acquiring and stealing intelligence.
Its clear though that Bourne can do infiltration pretty well and Cross is a pretty skilled fighter and knows how to kill when necessary, so their skill-sets do kinda blur there.
Moreover, Bourne had a solid military background as a trained soldier (possibly a Special Forces veteran), but he was just a normal, albeit very skilled human being. Cross, while in the military, was a mentally handicapped man, but thanks to the meds, he was physically and intellectually 'enhanced'.
I'd say the odds are pretty even, but we won't know until we see them meet on screen.
Great post sn939, I always wanted to know the extent of which the meds would affect Cross skills and if they would give him an unfair advantage over Bourne.

They're on the same side - betrayed by CIA. Anything will be they team up against CIA
shareThe story was weak for a Bourne movie, but the actors saved it for me.
shareBourne fought a guy with a magazine and won. Nuff' said
shareBourne would wipe the floor with Aaron if they had to fight.
No more yankie my wankie. The Donger need food!
this is a difficult question to answer, as others have said they are both incredibly skilled in different areas, in hand to hand mortal combat i would say bourne would probably do it.
however the real question still remains, will there ever be a boy born who can swim faster than a shark ?
and a pen
shareNot top mention that he beat a guy so bad the guy rather'd jump out a window than keep fighting Bourne.
shareBourne.
Bourne is by far the better fighter. This film even backs that up by having one of the Outcome agents be impressed by Bourne's record.
Very good point. That Outcome agent had never seen results like what Bourne has pulled off.
shareNow, depending on whether the director does a 'shaky camera' (Greengrass) or not, actually determines who would be the better fighter of the two. That's one of the reasons Damon looks like the better fighter, the shake gives a better fight appearance.
did you mean Aaron? He was the one that beat the record.
shareAaron did that all on meds. The better man is Bourne. He does what he does on his own talent with no enhancement. That was why the Outcome agent was so excited by Bourne's case record.
shareNo, no i agree with you about Bourne being the better agent. What record are you talking about though? The one i'm talking about is the one from this movie that Aaron beat. Jason Bourne didn't go through the same training so it couldn't be his record.
shareWhen Byers and his crowd are going through past records to decide how to deal with the Bourne/Landy/Vosen scandal and how it affects their program, one of the employees reads Bourne's file. The file contained training notes, IQ tests, Physical tests, and field notes. He was impressed how much Bourne accomplished without medical enhancements.
Don't make too much of the record setting in this film, he only arrived ahead of time by doing something stupid. It was just thrown in there to make the new character look good.
The real star is Bourne. After all the film still bears his name.
I thought you were talking about the other agent that Aaron Cross meets in the cabin. He says, "you beat the record over the mountain".
shareBourne.
He was the best in Treadstone/Blackbriar.
Not only was he physically capable and an extremely skilled fighter he also was highly intelligent (unlike Cross). He was always 2 or 3 steps ahead of the CIA and even when caught by surprise he would improvise something in seconds. Besides Bourne doesn't rely on pills or any other "external" improvement.
Bourne seems more skilled aaron was living off of enhancements to get where he was at.Bourne's training is all natural everything he got was from just training and experience. He can do all the things aaron cross can do with the meds in my opinion that makes him more effectvie and skilled.
Therefore we may call that art true at which does not seem to be art."
The movie is not called The Cross Legacy. Bourne is better because he is still in the title of the film. He's the best out of anyone in the program.
To Boldly Go Where Phil Coulson Has Gone Before
If Aaron is now viraled off of the meds then the effects are a permanent part of who he is now. He doesn't need them anymore to keep his IQ and physical strength up. It also seems that in addition to the meds he's been trained pretty well to make use of the abilities they gave him. That said, from what I remember of the first three Bourne films, Jason was lethal and might have an edge on Aaron but I seriously doubt it would be a ten-second cakewalk for him since Aaron is not going to just stand there.
~"Chris, am I weird?"
~"Yeah, but so what? Everybody's weird."

Good answer guys. Yeah, the movie hints it by portraying Bourne as a legend, but Aaron was a beast and would put up a good fight
