Jackie attracting so many men isn't even realistic.

Edie Falco at her BEST, when she has long hair and the right makeup, is an average looking middle aged woman imo. There's nothing wrong with that; most of us are average, right? But it becomes a problem when you cast her as a character who:

a. has her looks played down by giving her a short, cropped butchy haircut and
b. apparently attracts men like bees to honey.

It was really hard for me to believe that she's got this smokin' hot younger husband (who IS younger and looks even younger than his actual age), and then she's got a boyfriend on the side, and then they really went too far was when even COOP got all goofy over her and dumped his gorgeous girlfriend to pursue Jackie! What the heck! It's like they had some other actress in mind when they wrote the script, but then decided to star Edie at the last moment and it was too late to change the script.

I'm not trying to be mean but I just think they should have either gone with someone else, or wrote in other drama that didn't involve sex with multiple men who in real life wouldn't go for her.

I'm only on Season 2, but I agree with you that it's not very convincing. It's all a matter of opinion. Either it's believable to you or it's not. I, like you, have a hard time reconciling the storyline with the way Jackie looks. The writers have control over how she is styled and who they cast, and for me it just doesn't quite match up. I guess that makes me shallow, but it's the way I feel. I love her acting abilities and the show so far though.

Okay. I just started season 5, and I have to admit Jackie is looking much, much better. It's not just the hair, although that helps. Her wardrobe and her whole demeanor is just softer and more graceful. Maybe because she's sober?

Totally agree with you OP, but this is so common in TV and movies. Just as common as characters using empty coffee cups.

It's not just looks that attract people. It's personality and charm and the air about them. You'll notice that most of the men that are attracted to Jackie are not just random people she meets, they are people that interact with her on a professional level first. She has a strong air of confidence and control. A lot of people are attracted to that. As well, as someone mentioned, she knows how to charm people. Most addicts learn early how to do this because they need this skills to get what they want.

Attraction isn't entirely a response to appearance or age. Personality and intelligence have a lot to do with it. That being said, if Jackie had a female hairstyle and wore something besides those sexless blue pajamas, her magnetism would be more plausible.
