I Finally Watched This Today On Blu Ray

And it was FANTASTIC!! I was wrong in my assumption that this was some Woke version of PREDATOR and that I initially didn't buy into a Comanche Indian Tribe having the weaponry they had to take this thing down VS The PREDATOR'S Stealth Technology and wide array of weaponry it had, but it worked.. This was much, MUCH better than "The PREDATOR" with Boyd Holbrook and Olivia Munn.. How come 20th Century FOX only released this to HULU and not in theatres like it should've been?? Why FOX??

The Blu Ray I have offers it in Comanche Indian Language as an Option.. I'm watching this again when I get home.. Also, it took me so long to watch it because in the beginning when it came out, it was Exclusive Only to HULU and I didn't want to subscribe to that or any Streaming service and decided to wait to see if it ever came out on Blu Ray/DVD and it did finally.. It was worth $25.00 for certain.. Now, I'm not sure how a sequel would work, unless it's a movie set in a different time period like this?? How about the PREDATOR vs a Viking or send him back to the Prehistoric Era

I read reviews of it before making the purchase and I figured, it probably can't be any worse than The PREDATOR(2018) but it was much better than that movie and now, I'm about to watch it again..

Prey is an awesome movie. Best in the franchise, even better than Predator.

People with crushes on Arnold and major nostalgia for the original are the only things stopping Prey from being rightfully considered the consensus best.

Why didn't 20th Century FOX release this in theatres instead of making it strictly for HULU?? I'm guessing since The PREDATOR Bombed so bad, they wanted to test this 1st on Streaming.. Maybe a sequel will go to theatres??

This was the post-COVID climate. A lot of companies were trying to get subscribers for their streaming services.

Prey was a movie that they obviously didn't have major confidence in with regards to box office potential probably because the last few weren't exactly big hits and this movie was in essence a period piece, not a action packed (gun heavy) modern movie like the other entries. Couple that with Prey having no big names attached and having the lead be a woman of Native American descent so yeah they decided to opt for using it as a HULU draw.

They realized their mistake though. This movie got a home media release due to the fan demand (so said the director on twitter) and the next Alien movie, Alien: Romulus, was meant to get the same HULU exclusive release like Prey but they've now decided to give it a theatrical exclusive run.

I realize this isn't popular saying this, but I've had just about enough of the Streaming crap and feel like this really is the death of the movie theatre if they don't start making an effort to return to some sense of normalcy

Thoroughly enjoyed Prey. Easily my favourite since the original.

Edit: 4th Jan '24 Just rewatched this - it is now officially my favourite of all.

I enjoyed this but so it on Hulu when it premiered. I have been a long time Free subscriber to Hulu and it was also bundled with something else. Oh yeah, Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN!! I might invest in this on Blu-Ray only because I have a media collection and the movie is quite good.

BUMP.. I want to say this is officially my favorite movie so far in the last 48 hours of purchasing this.. I was wrong about this in the beginning thinking this was going to be a bunch of "Woke" bullshit, but I was wrong.. I don't look at it as this young woman taking on this highly advanced PREDATOR with a story that just happens to take place in 1700.. No.. I looked at it more as the Commanche Indians and their Archaic, Primitive weaponry against this blood thirsty Extraterrestrial hunting them and skinning Buffalo left and right.. Best scene?? PREDATOR going toe to toe with that Grizzly Bear.. LOL!!! Fucking punched the thing in the face and knocked him the fuck out, then hoisted him over his head while gallons of blood drain from it.. LOL!! Awesome!! Not sure how they could do a sequel unless it's set in a different time period??

No big name stars is the only reason I can think of for not releasing this. Streaming disrupted a lot of the process even after COVID. However I am shocked that even to this day this can only be streamed on Hulu.

I still haven't decided if the #2 spot should to to Prey or Predators. It was a welcome surprise -- I had lost hope after The Predator.
