.. how to use the mask? the three red dots had to point directly to the target, and Predator got stuck conveniently at the right spot in the swamp and practically shot himself after the arrow flew 360 around him!?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but she had no clue how the alien tech worked, and that makes her victory pure luck I guess?
Anyways, overall the movie was not bad but could have been better.
She saw the predator use the lasers to kill the one native guy who punched her in the face and then saw him aim at another when they are in the field. Then she saw the mask fall off after her brother knocked it off and couldn’t aim at him when he was on the horse. She also had a piece of his tech when she was by the river after escaping when her brother was killed.
she’s shown throughout the film as being a clever tactician
She’s also shown to be quick at figuring things out
She used her established skills to place the mask so it’d point at the bog’s center and deliberately positioned herself between the mask and the predator
To be fair, this predator seemed significantly dumber than Arnold’s or Danny Glover’s.
Arnold’s could tell it was being led into a trap too primitive to detect with its tech
Danny Glover’s predator had alternatives to infrared vision and used them when it smelled a rat
Makes sense. I read the end of an Aliens v Predator novel that described us from the predators' perspective. Something about "Yoo-mons" being cunning though physically weak, and particularly deadly when cornered.
No doubt this makes for better hunting
So once word got out that a tiny female yoo-mon killed a hunter with its own weapons, earth probably became prime hunting grounds for their best hunters
To be honest, I suppose we shouldn't treat Predators like they are all one and the same. They are going to have varying degrees of intelligence themselves just as humans do. Some are naturally going to be smarter the same as the lead tribeswoman is among her peers in this.
There was the scene where she figured out that Predator is only after hunters (or worthy prey), which was fine because that's something she could easily figure out.
But when it comes to alien tech; she doesn't know about electrical devices, remote control, lasers, etc. to her it's pure magic.
What if Predator had re-programmed the arrow so that the mask is not needed anymore?
In the end, she took a shot in the dark and won. There's no way she could beat another Predator - unless she gets lucky again.
The final scene would have worked better if she'd been part of the modern world.
She probably didn't see the predator tech much differently than the pistol, they were all pretty much alien to her. She understood they were weapons and just needed to know how to use them.
Unclear. I have problems with that too. Mostly that it was still functional. How was it activated? So now the spear is guided by the targeting laser? Wtf? As if it wasnt enough that she had placed it and lured the predator to the exact spot? Cmon….
I swear audiences are getting stupidier by the year. Did you really need the character to say it while she was looking at the fucking helmet when it was knocked off his head?!
Yeah, as a climatic scene it was just poorly written. As a race of skilled hunters, it comes off as sheer stupidity to shoot a weapon without knowing where the auto targeting system is pointed to. It's goofy, like Gomer Pyle shooting an auto targeting rocket launcher without seeing where the targeting computer is pointing to. Unless I missed something...
She saw how it worked. And using that swamp was a good strategy. I knew that was coming.
However they should have stopped at the swamp, or had her actively holding the mask to aim. The chances that she could get the Predator to position its head at that exact spot the mask was aiming, required an unnecessary suspension of disbelief.
She didn’t need his head to be at that spot necessarily. It made for a more conclusive kill for the movie. But if the Predator were standing above and fired at her , the shot would’ve went back to his chest or midsection, which would still kill him.
