So Allen did lie on the stand

Joe was right, there was proof of Allen saying he never went to Florida, then got on the stand saying he did, so as Joe said there should have been a mistrial you got a guy on the stand clearly lying his ass off.

Yet Allen doesn't face any kind of charges for that?

And i also don't get how the guy who agreed to kill Carol doesn't get any time, ok he didn't kill her but then why does Joe go to prison? I don't get why the guy who hired a hit man gets time but the actual hit man who agreed to kill someone doesn't get any time.

I got the impression from the show that Allen made a deal with the prosecution to testify in exchange for immunity.

As far as the difference between the two, Joe was convicted of actually doing the thing he was accused of i.e. hiring a hit man to kill another person. All that matters was that an agreement was made and money exchanged hands. Whether or not the hit man went through with it is immaterial to the case. The conditions for conviction have been met.

Even without the immunity deal, I don't know the requirements are for conviction on taking money to kill someone. If you take money to kill someone, but then never act on it, is that in itself a crime? I don't know the answer to that.

At a minimum, Allen is not a credible witness. If Joe's conviction relied on the testimony of Allen, then there should be some remediation for that. There may be more evidence than was presented in the show.
