So, we're entering the Nostalgia phase for the 2000s?

I guess this and Saltburn officially open the 2000s nostalgia doors. Its always roughly about 20y+ the nostalgic stuff kicks in:

70s you had the 50s (Elvis, Grease, Superman, Happy Days, American Graffiti, Star Wars/Raiders that were inspired by 50s cliffhanger serials),
80s it was still the 50s (BTTF) and 60s (Star Trek movies/TNG, Mission Impossible 2nd tv series)
90s it was the 60s (big budget movie remakes of 60s shows: Fugitive, M:I, Lost in Space etc, there was the Cool Britannia wave of British 60s pop culture/music/film resurgence of Bond, Avengers, Beatles, Michael Caine etc became all popular again) and the 70s (disaster movies, John Travolta, Grease reissue, Star Wars reissues/Ep 1),
2000s I guess it was the 80s (Superman, Indiana Jones, Incredible Hulk, Miami Vice, A Team, Knight Rider, Rocky/Rambo, Marvel 80s cartoons)
2010s the 80s/90s, (Jurassic, Star Wars, Terminator, Mad Max, Blade Runner, Tron, Robocop/TotalRecall, Expendables, Keanu/John Wick, ID4, Star Trek movies/tv, Guardians, IT)
2020s its the 00s (Tobey Spiderman, Matrix, Saltburn, Mean Girls, new Harry Potter,)

reply

Spot-on really.

reply

Elvis and Star Wars will never die as much as we may want them to.

reply

Nope.
You need something GOOD to be nostalgic.

This whole century has been shit.
2000s have nothing to define them other than their bland mediocrity.
But there is no difference with 2010s.
They have no spirit, no soul, no style.

reply

I can't say that you are wrong. The 2000s have pretty much been $h!t on all fronts.

reply

THAT IS WHAT EVERY GRANDPA SAYS ABOUT THE YOUNGER GENERATIONS.

reply

Nobody said anything about generations. The comment was about the pop-cultural blandness of the current century, so far. Besides, someone ("Grandpa") having said something in the past doesn't invalidate something being said today. To believe so is a logical fallacy.

THIS IS WHAT EVERYONE SAYS ONCE THEY HIT A CERTAIN AGE...MY DAD'S PARENTS THOUGHT THE HEATLES AND ROCK N ROLL WAS THE END OF SOCIETY...MY PARENTS THOUGHT THE MUSIC AND MOVIES I GREW UP WITH WERE SHIT.

OLDER GENERATIONS ALWAYS DISLIKE THE YOUNGER GENERATIONS OFFERINGS.

reply

And every grandpa is more correct about that than the grandpa that came before him.
