S3: Steve is really phoning it in...

...but Martin Short has really taken the reins. He's still just as quick as he ever was in the 70's. Steve has really taken a back seat, though - not a lot of speaking parts. And the gags (like the "white room") aren't really playing. He's really just kind of embarrassing to watch in S3. Selena has stepped it up, too, acting wise.

Big gripe: I hate when shows sell us on celebrities "joining" the cast - then those celebrities disappear 2 episodes in. The best episodes were easily the ones that featured Paul Rudd, but now he's gone. And Streep is always good - and she's gone, too. Bait and switch!

I wonder is he's having memory issues.

His performance of that tricky baby song was pretty good. I don't think I could do that without tripping over my tongue.

I told my wife I want to see the musical, lol. Catchy songs.

reply

Lol, same. It was well done.

I know Rudd's character was supposed to be annoying, but they went overboard in this show. One of those characters that you're glad is dead because they're less annoying as a corpse. :)

Steve Martin is probably doing most of the writing and so putting most of his energy into that rather than acting. It's a generous thing to write more for your friends than for yourself.

Meryl Streep was in the season all the way through to the end.

I thought Steve Martin had a lot to do this season. He is using his brand of comedy where as Martin shorts is usually more manic. They have both not missed a step after all these years. Really enjoying the show

Why does everybody misspell "rein" now?
