[SPOILERS] My theory regarding Vincent D' Onofrio's character

Hey guys, guess this is the first time I write fanfic haha, anyway here goes, I think that Vincent D' Onofrio's character is responsible for the burglary. What I mean is, I'm pretty sure he sold information to the burglars. That's how they knew the house had valuables in it and that only women would be present when they striked.
There are several clues hidden in the film that prove this:
- Vincent D' Onofrio/Frank is depicted as a loser that frequently borrows money from Bruce Willis/Paul. In the restaurant scene when he asks him for money it's pretty clear he's done it before, judging by Paul's reaction. However a few days after the break-in he already has the money and is ready to return it to Paul. How did he collect it? Clearly he was paid off by the criminals for tipping them off.
- Frank did go to that italian restaurant with Paul's wife and daughter, so he obviously knew that Paul was working (since he wasn't there) and it was a fair guess that he would be very late that evening. Maybe it was then that he told the crooks to go rob Paul's house?
- Frank acted all suspicious when the daughter woke up from the coma. For someone that was so close to his niece, his reaction is very weird; when she wakes up he just looks at her all scared-like and leaves to hang out at Paul's office instead. Why? Maybe he's feeling guilty for betraying his family just for a few bucks?
- Frank seems pretty unaffacted by the whole ordeal (to be fair this can also be said for every other family member too so I don't know)...
- Note how the burglars don't even ask if there's a safe in the house. They already know it. How else could they be so sure if not for Frank telling them?

Thoughts??

I don’t think so. We see very clearly that the guy at the valet parking overheard them agreeing to go to a restaurant at a certain date and time, and then finding their address in the car’s navigation system. Then he passed on the information to the liquor store guy – “this family that seems well-off will be out on Wednesday evening. The address is …”.

The mother and daughter had gone out to buy groceries to make a cake from scratch (the same cake that they would have eaten at the restaurant if Paul hadn’t cancelled). While they were out, the thieves broke in. When they returned, the thieves were already inside and had already found the safe.

Yeah you're right. I'd completely forgotten about the valet. Guess that puts that theory to bed...

I think you should watch it again.

Would have made an interesting sequel...

I was kind of hoping this was true!
1. It would've made much better use of the actor d'Onofrio. This was just one of those "easy paycheck" movies for him. His character, in fact, was totally unnecessary.

2. It would've made for a great plot twist about 2/3 through. When Paul finds that first crook's cellphone & sees the photo of his car's nav. system, I thought that had a link to Frank, as that's the crook Frank paid the money to (I think - hard to tell what was going on there).

3. It would've added conflict, or a better climax, when Paul & Frank would face each other, Paul angry at Frank & Frank defending his actions, or even facing down Paul in a gun fight.

4. There could've been some revealing interplay with crooks & Frank. Maybe they need more info from him in order to kill his daughter or maybe do something inside Paul's house to incriminate him & thus save themselves via the cops.

Instead, we got what we got: Easy paychecks for all concerned, and a waste of time and hope for us.
