death wish lead actor

Here's a crazy idea---how about matt damon as paul kersey? Doesn't he kind of look like charles bronson? aside from that he's a great actor

reply

no your all wrong! sly will play the lead!

reply

Paul Kersey : Stanley Tucci or Tony Shalhoub or John Noble

Frank Ochoa : Robin Williams or Ed O´Neill

Still think Robin Williams would be great as Frank Ochoa. :-)

reply

I agree with Gary Oldman playing Kersey. He's one of the few actors that would do the role some justice, imo.

I want OSCAR WINNERS RUSSELL CROWE or KEVIN COSTNER for the lead role in DEATH WISH.

MICHAEL KEATON could be great too as the main lead of DEATH WISH.

My favorites of all time are SIR RIDLEY SCOTT, KATHRYN BIGELOW, MICHAEL MANN, LUC BESSON, etc

A list of possibles I think might be:

Viggo Mortensen

Michael Chiklis

Michael Madsen

Guy Pearce

reply

No A-list directors would want to shoot that thing. I mean seriously, does someone here really think a filmmaker like Michael Mann would be interested? I seriously doubt it... It's more in the lines for hacks like Brett Ratner or Jaume Collet-Serra for instance....

reply

how about charles bronson? cant we take cgi to full effect and make a perfect human looking double to charles? i would watch that movie 1000 times over like i did the other death wishes

This has Liam Neeson written all over it for me

Death Wish (original) has Jack Lemmon slated to play Bronson's role before Bronson was cast instead. As much as Bronson lifted his name with Death Wish, I think a Jack Lemmon would have made it a better story, as you would fear for a less capable Jack Lemmon than you would for a more action proven capable Bronson. Since, they are taking a second go at this picture, I think they should attempt for that "Wow, is this guy (aka Jack Lemmon)really getting down like this?" factor.

Off the top of head, I would agree with the Gary Oldman suggestion,Kevin Costner, eh, not so sure about that one; Kurt Russel, maybe/probably could kill it, Danny Glover (most likely too old now), maybe Michael Keaton, reprising a Batman like role, Tom Hanks - now that would be f*&#ing good right there, Chrisoph Waltz - he would nail it, Daniel Day Lewis, but he can do anything, Robin Williams - another excellent choice by me, Kevin Spacey - he'll hit it right on the head, actually, I think that is my best choice, Kevin Spacey. Give it to Spacey! Don't agree? Refer to Usual Suspects, Swimming With Sharks, American Beauty, A Time To Kill, Midnight in Garden of Good and Evil, The Big Kahuna, or the more recent House of Cards; the guy leaves a major and lasting impact on the screen.

A younger Morgan Freeman would have been great in this role as well, but we can go all day like this...

Josh Brolin would be my first choice. But if you want to go older maybe a Nick Cage would do justice or possibly Gary Oldman would do justice and be a believable Paul Kearsey

your a *beep*

Pierce Brosnan, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Liam Neeson, Michael Douglas (10 years ago) would all be good picks in my mind, though Michael Douglas is probably too old now.

EDIT: Mel Gibson would be good too! I thought he was great in Edge of Darkness.

reply

Pierce Brosnan. Never thought of that until you typed it. Frigging perfect!

reply

So it's gonna be Bruce Willis! Surprised no one mentioned him. I can live with that casting choice.

It should have been this guy: http://tvtakeaway.wp.txstate.edu/files/2014/01/waltpointinggun.png

I agree, Bryan Cranston would have been perfect for the role. Walter White is a very similar character in many ways, and he nailed that role.

reply

I would pick Tom Hanks, because he is the polar opposite of Bronson.
