Silly firearm props

The rifle silencer had a muzzle brake incorporated into it. Very few silencers have this feature and it is normally for very heavy recoiling firearms like those chambered in 50 BMG. Since he was using (per his voice-over) subsonic ammo, he would not need such a feature on the silencer which would only lead to an increase in noise.

His pistol silencer was actually a muzzle brake. They make the firearm appear to be much louder to the shooter and those standing to the side.

Maybe he does use supersonic ammo. But a silencer with a muzzle brake built into it for a small rifle as shown helps not at all.

But as I said, just a silly gun prop. Cheaper than using the real thing on a film set.

Yes, the rifle is real, but it is marginal for subsonic ammo with the 1-10 twist. 1-8 is best for bullets heavier than 200 grains.

If a rifle is going to be disposed of after a short range hit, such as in the film, then an AR-15 in 300 Blackout with a 10" barrel is a much better choice. A 240-250 bullet puts more power down range than a 180-200 grain bullet at subsonic speeds. An AR-15 also takes down to a smaller size than the Vanquish

I think the rifle and silencer were selected for the visual appearance for those viewers who are only casually familiar with firearms.

I have a suppressed 300 blackout with a 10.5 inch barrel an adjustable gas port. It is more compact and probably more powerful and accurate with subsonic ammo than the Vanquish.

But I'm a hobbyist, not a hit-man. :)
