shareYou completely misunderstood the ending dialogue. He wasn't referring to himself as one of the many 'normies' yet rather making a statement that there are many out there similar to him in his nature also. Well is how I took it.
shareYes he deviates from his programming and that’s the point, he’s a sociopath who has actively resisted empathy, so as to remain one of the few and have more control over preserving and broadening self interests, to transforming into someone who at the very least is moving towards embracing empathy, and becoming one of the many, compromising personal gain for that of serving the interest of someone outside of himself.
He’s not meant to be perceived as a noble character by any means or someone that we’re even meant to root for, he’s simply an individual undergoing a significant change, and we’re passive observers along for the ride.
