It's quite realistic actually.. it shows how corrupting money and power can be to humanity. You yourself are being treated as no more than an asset to those in power. If you don't sacrifice a third of your life to them you don't eat. Oppression is alive in the world as depicted in many science fiction, but it's more hidden, below the surface. This prison we live in works, because we are not aware of it.

No. It was a comment on apartheid and I have no doubt that in the high days of apartheid a white corporation would do that to a black without blinking. If they can do that to fellow man who were perceived as alien and sub-human... no problems against a real alien perceived as sub-human.

I see your point but I am going to give the story some license here. One of the obvious points that the story was trying to make is that there is no difference between prawns and humans. In the scene where Wilkus was bolted to a stand and they used his claw arm to shoot a prawn weapon, that scene illustrates the fact that the inhumanity was completely general in nature, not confined to prawns. If someone will mistreat a black person because he is black, trust me, he will mistreat you, too. This is a very important point and one that I think that this movie made in spades. Some people think this movie is racist because it gives excuses for racism. On the contrary, it lays the logic of racism out plain and shows that racism is just a mask for hating everyone.

The racist hates everyone and I mean everyone including himself.
