Only read if you finished the series.

So since the final 2 episodes have been put online, I watched them and biggest disappointment was that they didn't end it with the football hitting the warehouse. I don't know why but that would've made it so much better for me.

What I especially liked was the idea of Pete and Myka coming full circle. In the beginning, Pete was a little immature and didn't really take his responsibilities as seriously as he should, whereas Myka took her responsibilities on so well that she closed herself off to anything else but the job. At the end, Pete was very serious about his job as an agent, and Myka relaxed enough to allow others in.

I agree the football would have been a perfect touch.

I loved/hated this final episode. For the most part I loved it, even the corny tap-dancing number scene.

The part I hated was them giving in to the whole Pete and Myka thing. As others have said for 5 seasons you have Pete lusting after Myka and Myka having nothing to do with it. The relationship started off like a brother/sister thing and grew into a stronger brother/sister relationship. Then this season they started having Pete trying to avoid Myka because other characters were telling him it was obvious he loved her. UGH. She didn't show any hint loving him ever until this final episode. When she "realizes" it she looks like she is going to be sick.

For the last couple of episodes other characters have been saying "It's obvious" you love her to Pete. Yes for Pete it has always been obvious, but it was also OBVIOUS that Myka DID NOT RECIPROCATE those feelings of Lust apparently now turned to love.

Other than the Pete/Myka shipping made canon I enjoyed this final episode.

I dunno, they've kinda hinted at Myka having feelings for Pete for quite some time. Mainly, you see it in the scenes where Pete gives Myka an honest, heartfelt compliment.

For instance, in the episode "Age Before Beauty" (Season 2 Episode 4), we have this statement from Pete:

Myka, you are a stunningly beautiful woman. The day I met you, I said "What? I'm not going to be able to work with her! I won't be able to stop staring at her!" But then I got to know you,nd I realized that you're even more beautiful than I could see. And if that little teen fencer could see what a beautiful woman that she would become, she would know that it was her sister that should be jealous.

Yes, this helps boost Myka's confidence a lot, but if you look at her, you can tell that it's not often that she receives such a genuine compliment, and that she never expected it from Pete.

Over the years, with all their time working together, you could see the slow buildup of emotions between the two of them. With both of them, it started out as two people who couldn't really stand each other because they were so opposite, but eventually they grew to respect each other, and then formed a deep abiding friendship with and dependence upon each other. However, they were both attracted to each other from the start, and genuine, real love snuck in with that friendship.

While I think that yes, they rushed it, I don't think they really had a choice because of the show's cancellation. They wanted to get them together, but only had six episodes with which to do it.

Had they done that over the course of a regular 13 episode season, I don't think there would have been as much push-back over it.

As I mentioned above, I don't like "will they or won't they" storylines but Myka did have regard for Pete.
I mean, she only told him about her cancer. That means he was important to her emotionally.

That would have been a nice touch.

You can always film your own--the "Artifact Tracker" Football prop is only a low, low, price of $56,506.57 on Ebay

For me, the football got pretty demystified when it was revealed to just be an orbiting artifact detector. Seeing it again wouldn't have moved me one way or the other.

I thought the finale was pretty perfect. Artie is full of secrets. Secret dad. Secret Claudia's sister. Secret past. Secret this. Secret that. He was all about secrets. Why not a secret son. The big show dance number is kind of an in-joke for the viewer cause todah! Final episode. Make it a show stopper. It was pretty cute. I definitely wanted Pete and Myka to get together, cause with their lives, who are they ever gonna find that would understand or make time for it? Not all love is star crossed. And it was awesome seeing Claudia actually be caretaker, especially after rattling our cages with self doubt. I really loved HG Wells' defining moment. The only off bit was Myka and the ninjas. Which really seemed like more of a Pete moment lol. But in context, that's when she realized she was in love with Pete, so maybe that was more the warehouse creating her defining moment than her actual defining moment. But this is one of those shows you can analyze to pieces.

@OP

I liked the finale and thought it was one of the best series finales I've ever seen. But the football would have been the perfect touch at the end. No doubt about it.

Nah, the football is nothing but an artifact-seeking device. What purpose would such an ending serve?

Although I did appreciate the Artie-apple scene (not the "whore" part though), I couldn't help myself but thinking "what about the others?". I was expecting them to end it with an apple-smelling scene. Like:

They are all heading towards the office & somebody (Pete?) says "hey guys, do you smell apples?", & the others confirm it. Then the ping-thingy goes off & the camera zooms out/fading out as they are getting ready for yet another case.
