Is there a trip scene in any other movie that compares to this?
if so, do tell or give a youtube link...

shareThere's a pretty wild tripping sequence in Easy Rider where the boys are tripping in a New Orleans cemetary with a couple of hookers.
shareThat scene is not what tripping is like... thats like a bad/confusing trip. I was asking if there is a trip scene that accurately portrays a trip as good as this movie's scene does (with the sound distortions/enhancement, the brief anxiety he had before he was able to just relax and go for a ride, the visual aspect). While it is impossible to "show" or even explain a trip in through a movie, I feel like this movie did the best job of it.
shareI have done my fair share of hallucinogens in my time, and I was really impressed with the way this movie protrayed the LSD trip. Except for maybe the violent, frightening trip scenes in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, this movie did a better job than any other I can think of portraying the actual effects of psychotronics.
Great job, Mr. Ang Lee. Most movies never get drug scenes right.
"Let's go get sushi, and not pay."
I completely agree
shareYeah, this movie was pretty on par with what it's like, especially if you had such colorful trippy things to look at (which normally you would just be outside seeing trees or indoors seeing walls).

the trip?
reading the electric kool aid acid test by tom wolfe?, a section in that book reminded me the trip scene.
Based on my experinces...Totally Agreed this movie comes closest...not complete...but definitely the closest.
shareNobody's mentioned the scene in Big Lebowski on the flying carpet.
Or the one in the bowling alley, with the nihlists with large scissors
nah, this is a close as I have seen. I used to eat LSD a lot in high school, way too much. In fear and loathing in las vegas duke is standing in line and the carpet starts moving, that is as close as I have seen before in a movie. Taking woodstock is a perfect movie.
shareAs a user, I can say, this movie comes very close to the experience. As a previous poster said, it's not perfect but it's very very comparable (especially with the crowd seemingly pulsating with the show). That scene was nicely done but when they got out of the van and Eliot looks at the girls dancing around the fire, notice a dark haired girl flips her head around and there is a long trail that follows her hair. That got my attention and made showed me that they weren't just throwing together a stereotypical trip scene. No one can recreate a trip but if you're gonna try you better have some experience.
We are number one. All others are number two, or lower. - The Sphinx
I am watching it now and it's fantastic. Great use of colors. I also like that the girls looks like a young Susan Dey.
I was really pleasantly surprised by the beautiful trip scene. The people who created the visual effects knew what they were doing. It looked amazing!
Of course no visuals can ever truly recreate an LSD experience, but this movie came closest compared to others.
Watch the movie, "Human Traffic". They portray their highs really well in that movie, although not much in the visual manner.
Also, there's an episode of Entourage where they all do shrooms and get lost in the dessert.. Again, no visuals but the way they all acted made me believe they were on shrooms. Especially E (Eric).

Many scenes in Pink Floyd the wall are best to watch when tripping.
