anyone notice the FISH TANK (beginning of movie)?

Uhm wth, they had about 12 massive goldfish, about the size of Kois, in a tiny aquarium, a 25 litre,6-7 gallon, im estimating the tank size. That is just sick and cruel, i know its just a movie but still, that tank is way too small for fish that size and that amount of fish.
I know its silly but that kind of annoyed me, animal/fish cruelty.

You're definitely not the only fish lover around. That's the first thing I noticed in that shot, and I thought the exact same thing. Someone would never (hopefully) have fish that huge in a tank that small!

reply

I am no fish lover, but I liked them gold fishies !!!

They focused in on it at the end of the scene.......perhaps symbolizing something? Big fish in a small tank.........?

reply

I noticed that too! I was wondering why they had such big goldfish, and that many of them, in one small tank.

Totally saw it, even before they focused on it. At the mom's house, right? I thought it characterized Becky's mom as a bit kooky. But I believe sportznutt has something there about the symbolism.

As soon as I saw that scene, I thought the same thing. WTH. It bothered me too.

reply

I noticed it looked great on Blu Ray.

reply

I know virtually nothing about fish and even I noticed the ridiculous crowding.

But for the symbolism to have worked, wouldn't we have needed to see one fish significantly bigger than all the rest? That aspect wasn't clear to me, just the crowding.

reply

Gosh, you all have eyes and notice obvious things in movies. Special you are.

reply

I found it to be similar to the way the mother treated her own daughter. Keep her confined, not encourage growth, etc.

"that's not my dog"

reply

It's a 55 gallon tank (thank you freeze frame) and is hugely overcrowded.

That's the only thing I paid attention to in that scene lol.I kept thinking why the hell would you do that to fish?!? And I'm no fish lover.
