Harrison Ford's acting
Although I always enjoyed him in the Indiana Jones movies, I find him to be rather wooden in most of his other roles, including this one. He was so one-dimensional here - playing another ill-humored grouch.

shareA lot less one-dimensional than Clint Eastwood--I guess that's anti-American or whatever to say, but I will never understand the hoopla over Eastwood, talk about wooden. He's the same person in every movie he makes: squints at you and reads his lines in a monotone. He's definitely a much better director than an actor in my opinion. But I think Harrison Ford is usually pretty funny--he underplays his parts but that's a lot more enjoyable than overacting, don't you think?
shareI thought Harrison was overacting a bit in this movie - kind of overdoing the surly grumpiness of a veteran newscaster. I agree that Clint was wooden as well, but I enjoy watching him in interviews more so than Ford, as HF seems too serious and humorless in his interviews. They both are rather similar in their personalities, though.
shareI agree this movie and Ford in it sucked. I had to force myself to finish watching. But Harrison is effin hilarious in interviews. take your pick.

_______________I GOT NOTHING_______________
Funny, I thought he played the role pretty well. People who are like that become one-dimensional and almost completely lose the ability to function on a social level. there were some nice subtle things he did in his role, especially toward the end when you could see that he was actually making an effort to become a better person, and that Becky was the reason for that.
shareIn general I disagree (love him as an actor) but here I think you're spot on, especially if you saw any of his pre-release media. He was as grumpy with everyone who interviewed him as his character was on the show. Was painful to watch sometimes.
shareHarrison Ford was brilliant in the film! Lord you people are crazy! And he went by the script. He was angry all the time, because that was how the damn character was written. I loved the film and loved Ford as always!
shareBad impression of Jack Palance...
shareI didn't like him in this, I felt like he was someone acting like a grumpy, nasty person rather than being one. (a grumpy, nasty person.) Enjoyed the movie though.
shareAll I can say is, thank God this movie had closed captioning because otherwise I would not have understood half of what Harrison Ford said. Rachel McAdams was the whole show and I was pleased to see that she is in the Woody Allen movie Midnight in Paris which I have on Blu Ray but have yet to watch. I'm also interested in seeing The Notebook simply because she is in it. Until I saw this movie, I had no idea who she was. I am now a fan!
shareI agree with the supporters. McAdams was good, but I thought Ford was the best part of this movie. He executed that grumpy demeanor so well; he was hilarious!
