Total Coyote Ugly ripoff..

I mean seriously. This movie was by far one of the saddest attempts to recreate the formula given by moulin rouge and coyote ugly.
First, the country girl who quits a waitressing job to come to the city and "make it", whose appartment then gets absurdly robbed? Sorry, but Coyote got there first.
And then of course they were going to use Kidmans adaptation of Diamonds are a girls best friend, in the exact same fashion used in Moulin Rouge, let alone the rest of the movie, which basically involves the same plot as Rouge (millionaire wanting to buy the club to turn it into something else, and also wants the starlet).
I mean seriously! come on! There are better and more original scripts out there!
The musical numbers were pretty much the only thing that kept me watching the rest of the movie.
... and of course Chers cheekbones.

It's about the music, not the story. Even though its kind off rip-offy, its still a bette rmovie than "Coyote Ugly".

It may have a similar story but at least Christina can sing and the dance routines in this movie are sublime and arty. A feast for the eyes.
Coyote Ugly is just a bunch of wh0res jumping around and trying to act sexy, failing miserably.

Burlesque is NOTHING like CU

The plot is very similar to a lot of things.

Who cares if it is original or not? I thought they did a great job, regardless if they resemble Coyote Ugly, Moulin Rouge!, Showgirls, Chicago, what the hell ever! I loved it; very fun, energetic with great songs and great performances.

Wow, really? You found Coyote Ugly original?

I got news for you: Coyote Ugly's "plot" was already a wheeze when it first hit the screen in the silent era.

Coyote Ugly is about a bunch of whores and the girl only wanted to dance to make money. Christina Aguilera doesnt go to the city to "make it" she goes just to find a job dancing because that is what she wants to do. She didn't do it to become famous. Plus the main character in Coyote Ugly didn't want to dance, she was ashamed of it (and had her father character). This is a good movie and I am so sick of people like you bitching that the stories are similiar. WHO CARES!?!?! A good movie is a good movie. Period. P.S. Cam Gigandet is the hottest man alive and he totally makes it work.

YEP.

Ali going back to her robbed apartment made me confirm its a Coyote Ugly copy.

The musical numbers though is what has saved the movie, or made the movie better than CU.

Coyote Ugly is such a royal crap-fest that who cares? While Burlesque ain't greatest cinema ever made it is still much better movie.

Wasn't Coyote Ugly a rip off of Cabaret?

By Grabthar's Hammer...what a savings.

Just because something was done before, doesn't make it a rip-off. I've seen both and despite the few similarities, it was an entirely different movie.

Except this was obviously better than Coyote Ugly.
