[Spoilers] So... Rhaenerys will now opt for...

War!

Her child was killed by Aemond in the air. No more Mrs nice guy.

How did she know it was Aemond. Unless he confessed to it, I can't see how she would know for sure. At this point, she could think it was the Baratheons.

From the wiki/book, the dragon's head and neck washed up beneath the cliffs of Storm's End but Lucerys' body was never found. Considering that Aemond quickly left to pursue Lucerys in front of witnesses at Storm's End, it isn't unreasonable to conclude that he was responsible for Lucerys' death. Furthermore, they would probably be able to determine that Lucery's dragon was slain by another dragon, so the list of suspects would be small.

That was tragic, the poor dragon got spooked & breathed fire on Vhagar. After that you knew it was a wrap because he was going to do what he wanted then. Aemond knew it & knew he was in trouble. Plus you had witnesses who witnessed the fracas between Aemond & him.

Even if anyone could buy the fact that it was the beasts who disobeyed & got carried away, you know the boy is technically at fault. Like with you or I hitting someone with a car, even if they ran out in front of us, like it or not we’re screwed.

Good info. Thanks. But that information isn't given in the show. If you're watching, you have to do some speculating. I'm sure they'll clear it up next season.....in about 2yrs?

reply

I doubt that the show will bring it up next season, and frankly it is unnecessary since the audience can infer that word spread regarding the following facts:

Lucerys arrived at Storm's End alive.
While at Storm's End, Aemond started an altercation with Lucerys.
Lucerys departed Storm's End alive.
Aemond departed Storm's End immediately thereafter.
Lucerys and his dragon are never seen again.

There were witnesses to the altercation and both princes' hasty departure, and it would be reasonable to assume that at least some of the people at Storm's End were sympathetic to Rhaenerys considering that Borros' father swore allegiance to her, not to mention the possibility of spies relaying information. Even Borros himself would probably be eager to affirm that Lucerys left Storm's End alive since he knows that Rhaenerya has dragons that she could send to Storm's End.

Also, there isn't much that can stand up to a dragon, even a smaller one, so with the aforementioned knowledge it would be a fair assumption that another dragon was responsible. Even if it wasn't Aemond, Rhaenerya would assuredly blame the Greens in general.

Right on, then. Thanks.

It’s the same old story, somebody knows somebody, who knows somebody who saw something, said something. You’re not going to have the details kept secret. Unless the Baratheon’s were completely stupid, why would Rhaenyra have thought it was them?

They’d be fools & then all she’d have to do is send every dragon she has to Storms End to finish them off before anybody could help them out. It’s not going to take her long & it’ll be a in/out type of thing. Plus I’m sure Borros is going to be honest about what happened, his rejection of her proposal & son & basically lay down what occurred.

It’s not his fault the trouble between Luke & Aemond & he did what he could. So other than spurning her & not honoring his family’s promise to come to her aid there’s nothing to really go after him for.
