Honestly he's been on the way out since the first episode...but he's alive and kicking each new episode. Someone should do a website having some sort of countdown.
Bits of his body have been falling off all the time but he's still wobbling about.

Season 1 ends either with the declaration of both to be new king/queen or (my bet) with the first escalation of the war and a big cliffhanger for non book reader.
Edit: just saw the episode titles, he is 100% dead by/in Episode 9. But a Tywin cameo definitely possible in ep 10.
